Assessing the Impact of Capital Structure on Profitability. A Case Study of Indian Railways Finance Corporation (IRFC)

Dabei liegt der Fokus insbesondere auf den Chancen und Risiken des digitalen Euros für den europäischen Zahlungsverkehr und dessen Verbraucher. Die zentralen Fragestellungen, mit denen sich die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit befasst, lauten: Welche Auswirkungen hätte die Einführung eines digitalen Euros hinsichtlich seiner Chancen und Risiken für den europäischen Zahlungsverkehr? Inwiefern ist der digitale Euro als brauchbares Zahlungsmittel für Privatpersonen geeignet?

Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, den aktuellen Stand um einen digitalen Euro zusammenzufassen und die Chancen und Risiken des digitalen Euros für den europäischen Zahlungsverkehr zu untersuchen und zu analysieren. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, wird eine umfassende Literaturanalyse durchgeführt. 

Hierzu werden zunächst die theoretischen Grundlagen der Geldtheorie und des Finanzsystems erläutert. Daraufhin wird der digitale Euro vorgestellt und auf seine Motive, Ziele und Merkmale eingegangen. Im Anschluss werden die potenziellen Chancen einer Einführung des digitalen Euros im Zahlungsverkehr kritisch untersucht. Hierbei liegt der Schwerpunkt auf der Verbesserung von Zahlungstransaktionen. Daraufhin erfolgt eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den Risiken und Herausforderungen, die mit der Einführung des digitalen Euros einhergehen. Dabei werden Aspekte wie die finanzielle Stabilität und mögliche Veränderungen im Bankensektor berücksichtigt sowie schwerwiegend auf das Akzeptanzrisiko im Zahlungsverkehr eingegangen. Abschließend werden die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse in einem Fazit zusammengefasst. Dabei sollen die Forschungsfragen beantwortet und ein Ausblick auf die mögliche Zukunft des digitalen Euros gegeben werden. 

Der digitale Euro. Chancen und Risiken für den Zahlungsverkehr

Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2024 im Fachbereich VWL - Finanzwissenschaft, Note: 1,3, FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie und Management gemeinnützige GmbH, Hochschulstudienzentrum Hamburg (Finance), Veranstaltung: Finance, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Masterarbeit ist es, die komplexen Auswirkungen verschiedener Faktoren auf den Aktienkurs zum Zeitpunkt einer M&amp;A-Ankündigung zu untersuchen. Darüber hinaus besteht das Ziel darin, ein umfassendes Verständnis der kombinierten und interaktiven Auswirkungen dieser Faktoren zu erlangen und zu untersuchen, ob die Identifizierung dieser Einflussfaktoren zu höheren Renditen führen kann. Solche Erkenntnisse haben das Potenzial, die Effizienz und Transparenz der Finanzmärkte zu verbessern und gleichzeitig als praktische Grundlage für Investitionsentscheidungen zu dienen. 

Die Arbeit ist wie folgt aufgebaut: Die Einleitung bietet einen Überblick über die Forschungslücke, die Problemstellung und die Motivation hinter der Studie. Im darauffolgenden Kapitel werden die grundlegenden Konzepte von M&amp;A-Transaktionen, einschließlich Definitionen, Motiven, Zielen, Preisgestaltung und Kommunikationsaspekten, anhand einer umfassenden Überprüfung der vorhandenen Literatur erläutert. Anschließend werden die Faktoren untersucht und analysiert, die die Preisgestaltung bei M&amp;A-Transaktionen beeinflussen, basierend auf den aktuellen Forschungsergebnissen. Um die Auswirkungen einzelner Faktoren zu untersuchen, wird ein quantitativer Ansatz verwendet. Nach der Datenaufbereitung wird eine multiple Regressionsanalyse mithilfe von OLS-Schätzmethoden durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse der Analyse werden in Kapitel 4 zusammengefasst und die Auswirkungen für die Aktionäre in Bezug auf die einzelnen Variablen diskutiert. Die Arbeit schließt mit einem umfassenden Fazit- und Ausblickabschnitt, der die Ergebnisse reflektiert und mögliche Ansätze für weitere Forschung aufzeigt.

Academic Paper from the year 2024 in the subject Law - European and International Law, Intellectual Properties, grade: 28/30, Bocconi University, course: European and International Advanced IP Law, language: English, abstract: This paper aims to explore the interplay between trademark law and the often-elusive concept of bad faith against the backdrop of protecting the Champagne Geographical Indication by examining the case of CIVC and INAO v. Keep Waddling International Pte. Ltd. [2020] SGIPOS 10 and its implications within trademark and GI jurisprudence. 

The unique reputation of champagne is guaranteed by the protection afforded by the Champagne GI, a type of intellectual property right primarily cited in the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), ensuring that the label champagne can only be used for sparkling wines produced from certain grape varieties grown in the eponymous region in France. Protecting the appellation of origin reassures the consumer product authenticity and the strict restraints on the words use by the CIVC and INAO is motivated by the anticipation of the term and therefore the product of champagne becoming arbitrary and universal with unlimited use. 

The degree of similarity of terms and the therefore resulting likelihood of confusion for the consumer plays an essential role in deciding whether signs for products manufactured outside the Champagne region can be granted legal protection or not. In the case considered, the inclusion of "ChamPeng" in the Applicant’s trademark led to the refusal of its protection, not because the trademark would not meet the necessary registration requirements, but because its similarity to the champagne term gave inference for bad faith. Since the case’s dispute does not arise from a false claim or deceptive information, it particularly diverges from traditionally established bad faith categories. Therefore, the following question arises: How does the case contribute to the conduct of protection of GIs in trademark law?

The examination of the aforementioned issue will involve a comprehensive review of the case under consideration. Initially, the legal foundations and the Applicant's claims that prompted the legal proceedings will be outlined to establish the legal basis of the case. Subsequently, attention will be directed towards presenting the counterpart’s position, providing insights into the potential resolution of the dispute afterwards. Finally, the Court's ultimate decision will be scrutinized to discern its potential impact on enhancing the broader legal framework and in its challenging of conventional boundaries within trademark jurisprudence.

Facharbeit (Schule) aus dem Jahr 2024 im Fachbereich VWL - Finanzwissenschaft, Note: 1,3, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Facharbeit wird sich mit der zentralen Frage auseinandersetzen, welche Rolle die Schuldenbremse für eine nachhaltige Haushaltsfinanzierung spielt. Es gilt zu untersuchen, ob und inwieweit die rigiden Grenzen der Schuldenbremse notwendige Investitionen in die Zukunft des Landes, insbesondere in Bereiche wie Klimaschutz und Infrastruktur, behindern oder ob sie ein unverzichtbares Instrument zur Sicherung der finanziellen Stabilität Deutschlands darstellen. 
Am 15. November 2023 fiel eine weitreichende Entscheidung des Bundesverfassungsgerichts, die nicht nur juristische, sondern auch tiefgreifende politische und gesellschaftliche Folgen nach sich zieht. Im Zentrum steht der zweite Nachtragshaushalt 2021, welcher laut dem höchsten deutschen Gericht nicht mit den Artikeln 109 Abs. 3, 110 Abs. 2 und 115 Abs. 2 des Grundgesetzes (GG) vereinbar ist und somit für nichtig erklärt wurde. Diese Entscheidung hinterließ bei der Bundesregierung eine finanzielle Lücke von gewaltigen 60 Milliarden Euro. Gelder, die für essenzielle Klimaschutzprojekte wie die Sanierung von Gebäuden oder die Förderung der Elektromobilität eingeplant waren, stehen nun nicht mehr zur Verfügung. Die ursprüngliche Intention hinter der Allokation dieser enormen Summe war, die schwerwiegenden Konsequenzen der Corona-Krise effektiver zu managen. Um dies zu ermöglichen, wurde eine Ausnahme von der sogenannten Schuldenbremse gemacht, eine Maßnahme, die in außergewöhnlichen Notlagen verfassungsrechtlich zulässig ist. Die kritische Prüfung durch das Bundesverfassungsgericht am 15. November 2023 hat jedoch ergeben, dass eine derartige Verschiebung von Schulden unzulässig ist, was die Bundesregierung vor neue Herausforderungen stellt.
In Reaktion auf diese juristische Entscheidung hat die Bundesregierung für das Jahr 2023 einen weiteren Nachtragshaushalt aufgelegt, der die Aussetzung der Schuldenbremse für dieses Jahr vorsieht, gestützt auf die Ausnahmeregelung für außergewöhnliche Notlagen. Doch die Opposition hinterfragt kritisch, ob die Voraussetzungen für eine derartige Ausnahme – eine Naturkatastrophe oder eine außergewöhnliche Notsituation, die außerhalb der staatlichen Kontrolle liegt – tatsächlich gegeben sind. Sie argumentiert, dass die derzeitige finanzielle Notlage erst durch das ungesetzlich bewertete Handeln der Bundesregierung entstanden sei.

Successful Digital Transformation in Finance. Customer-Centricity and Future Business Models Beyond Smart Technologies

The change of the demographics of the workforce by globalization, fluctuations in the economy, and pressure for competitiveness, organizations are management globally paying importance to diversity as a critical business need. This paper looks into the issue of the working teams in organisations cross section by; attitude, language and skill in relation to their contribution to their organisations’ productivity. It emphasises that these differences have to be effectively managed in order to promote sharing of knowledge to increase productivity through social interaction. Research on DMP has shown mixed effectiveness that has been stated here, this shows the importance of the organization to accept and manage diversity fully to realize the benefits of diversity. The study also responds to a belief that absence of diversity must reduce organizational performance standards. But, it underscores the importance of that timely, strategically driven focus on, and dedication to, the participation of diversity in improving employee morale, their attendance, and performance, among other benefits that organizations can get. Based on the study it goes further to being evident that wherever minority and diversity are embraced as a policy at the workplace, the magnitude of innovation, effectiveness of decisions made, and performance of business organization is always higher. However, the study also acknowledges the various difficulties of achieving the optimisation of applicants from diverse backgrounds, demanding that managers build a separate strategy for attracting and encouraging the best employees and at the same time, maintain competitive edge.

Impact Of Diversity and Inclusion Management Have on the Productivity of an Organization

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2021 in the subject Economics - Finance, grade: Distinction (4.81), Wilberforce Island (Post Graduate School), course: Banking and Finance, language: English, abstract: The study examines the determinants of access to and usage of financial services in sub-Saharan Africa. The study employed panel data spanning 2006 to 2018 from 12 sub-Sahara African countries. The ex-post facto research design and econometric techniques were employed to explain the determinants of financial inclusion. The descriptive statistics was employed to describe the nature of the data. The LLC and IPS tests of stationarity indicated that all the variables were stationary at first difference. The Pearson pairwise correlation test revealed that the strength of association among the regressors were weak. The panel data was estimated using Pooled OLS, Fixed Effects, and Random Effects panel estimation techniques. The findings show that aside GDP per capita and political stability that had insignificant effect on access; money supply and regulatory quality had a significant effect on access to financial services. Furthermore, the findings suggest that aside from regulatory quality and deposit rate, GDP per capita and automated teller machine exerts a significant effect on financial usage. The study further reveals that money supply and lending rate significantly stimulates usage of loan accounts, while regulatory quality was insignificant. The study concludes that a combination of macroeconomic, institutional, and bank-level factors determine the level of financial inclusion in sub-Saharan Africa. The study recommends that regulators should encourage a conducive environment that spurs competition and innovation in the private sector. This may encourage financial access and usage due to economic growth and rising GDP per capita levels. Regulators should adopt policies like Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) in order to enhance the regulatory quality and boost public confidence. Regulators and banks should encourage the expansion of the number of functional point of service outlets in the region. Finally, government agencies should formulate policies that would encourage socio-political stability for the financial service industry to strive in the region.
