Guide to create unlimited value in any organization, supported by rich, granular company stories Drawing from real stories of how companies relentlessly improved quality, delivery, service, and cost structure, Creating Value: Empowering People for Sustainable Success that Benefits Employees, Customers, and Owners offers simple, powerful ways to think and act to unlock the nascent value of any enterprise. This book shares a dynamic business system that, when practiced authentically, taps into a more focused and productive organization to deliver superior value to customers in a way that improves consistently over time. Author John Rizzo draws from 30 years of leading successful business transformations in a wide range of industries. His approach, which creates sustainable success by empowering people to improve processes continuously, features the following principles:

Apply a Holistic Business System: Develop a complete framework that integrates strategy deployment, value stream analysis, workshops, and management systems

Prioritize People Development: Employ techniques that tap the wisdom of those who do the work-the true source of sustainable improvement

Learning as the Foundation: Discover how hands-on improvement creates deeper understanding and represents the most fundamental type of continuous improvement

Produce Quality at the Source: Build excellence into processes rather than inspecting for it afterward

Leverage the Compounding Power of Improvement: Realize the power of small improvements accumulating into breakthrough performance

Creating Value reveals how pursuing excellence leads to outstanding results that endure over years. It is an essential resource for business leaders to dramatically boost employee participation and agency, while steadily increasing profits and boosting enterprise value leading to widely shared creation of value.

A Financial Times Best Book of the Year "A must-read, with key lessons for the future."--Thomas Piketty A groundbreaking examination of austerity's dark intellectual origins. For more than a century, governments facing financial crisis have resorted to the economic policies of austerity--cuts to wages, fiscal spending, and public benefits--as a path to solvency. While these policies have been successful in appeasing creditors, they've had devastating effects on social and economic welfare in countries all over the world. Today, as austerity remains a favored policy among troubled states, an important question remains: What if solvency was never really the goal? In The Capital Order, political economist Clara E. Mattei explores the intellectual origins of austerity to uncover its originating motives: the protection of capital--and indeed capitalism--in times of social upheaval from below. Mattei traces modern austerity to its origins in interwar Britain and Italy, revealing how the threat of working-class power in the years after World War I animated a set of top-down economic policies that elevated owners, smothered workers, and imposed a rigid economic hierarchy across their societies. Where these policies "succeeded," relatively speaking, was in their enrichment of certain parties, including employers and foreign trade interests, who accumulated power and capital at the expense of labor. Here, Mattei argues, is where the true value of austerity can be observed: its insulation of entrenched privilege and its elimination of all alternatives to capitalism. Drawing on newly uncovered archival material from Britain and Italy, much of it translated for the first time, The Capital Order offers a damning and essential new account of the rise of austerity--and of modern economics--at the levers of contemporary political power.

Routledge Research in Media Law

This book is a comparative study of state-based film censorship laws and practices in the Asia-Pacific region. It provides crucial historical context for each of the common law traditions in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia - all former British colonies - and compares it to the tradition of civil law and the lèse majesté law in Thailand. The book sets out to analyse the approach to film censorship of four Asian-Pacific countries. It does so largely from a doctrinal perspective, reviewing each country's legal history and impact on the local film industry. Chapters detail censorship practices in each jurisdiction, key opinions and issues within individual states, and conclude with options for judicial review and insights relevant to the Malaysian film industry. The book also contains interviews with prominent film practitioners and censorship authorities. Their range of opinions contextualises the doctrinal research and demonstrates the effects of film censorship on artistic vibrancy and commercial viability of the film industries. With its comparative approach to exploring how censorship and state regulation impact local film industries, this book will interest scholars of film studies, Asian studies and media law.

Why do too many companies never achieve their objectives? Why do so many companies make losses every year? Why is it that the capacity of companies is not really being used to its full potential? Why are companies' resources and investments not really being used to their full potential? Why do company staff not really know how their efforts affect the company's performance? Why do company staff not know how and in what way they can change their actions to influence the company's performance?

I have written the solutions to these problems in four books in my book series, entitled: ¿KOKO YRITYKSEN KAPASITEETTI TEHOKÄYTTÖÖN¿ (= MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR COMPANY¿S CAPACITY), ¿YRITYKSEN VOIMAVARAT HYÖTYKÄYTTÖÖN ¿ YHTEISVOIMIN¿ (= MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR COMPANY¿S RESOURCES ¿ WORKING TOGETHER), ¿RESURSSIEN TULOKSILLA YRITYKSEN TAVOITETULOKSEEN¿ (= USING RESOURCES TO ACHIEVE THE COMPANY¿S TARGET RESULTS) and ¿FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY WITH CHANGE DRIVERS¿. These books provide the solutions to what entrepreneurs need to do to help their businesses achieve their goals on a consistent basis.

Studies in Classification, Data Analysis, and Knowledge Organization

This book collects together selected peer-reviewed contributions presented at the European Conference on Data Analysis, ECDA 2022, held in Naples, Italy, September 14-16, 2022. Highlighting the role of statistics in discovering novel and interesting patterns in the era of big data, it follows the motto of the conference: ¿Avoiding drowning in the data: recent trends and future challenges in learning from datä. The central focus is on multidisciplinary approaches to data analysis, classification, and the interface between computer science, data mining and statistics. Both methodological and applied topics are covered. The former includes supervised and unsupervised techniques with particular emphasis on advances in regression and clustering analysis and constructing composite indicators. The applications are mainly in risk analysis, biology, and education. The volume is organized into four main macro themes: methodological contributions in the social sciences and education, multivariate analysis methods for big data, innovative contributions for applications inspired by biology, and strategies for analyzing complex data in finance.
