Master's Thesis from the year 2020 in the subject Economics - Economic Cycle and Growth, grade: 3.33, Ethiopian Civil Service University, language: English, abstract: This paper examined the relationship between banking sector development and economic growth in Ethiopia. The paper also examines the effect of banking development on economic growth in Ethiopia and to establish which theory holds for Ethiopia between the demand-following and the supply-leading theory. Unlike the majority of previous studies, this study uses the newly developed ARDL-bounds testing approach to examine the relationship. The ARDL-bounds testing approach has numerous advantages over other co-integration techniques, especially when a short time-series dataset is used. In order to test the robustness of the empirical results, three proxies of bank-based financial development have been used; namely: 1) the domestic credit provided by the banking sector as a ratio of GDP, 2) broad money supply as a ratio of GD, 3) private credit as percentage of GDP. Annual time series data between the years 1987 and 2019 were used for the study, from the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) statistical bulletin. The structural break unit root test revealed that all the variables are stationary at their first difference; the bound test cointegration analysis established the existence of long run relationship among the variables. The ARDL revealed that domestic credit provided by the banking sector significantly affected economic growth in the long run, while private credit statistical significant and negatively affect economic growth in the short run during the period of study. The empirical results of this study show that the effect of banking sector development and economic growth in Ethiopia is sensitive to the proxy used to measure the banking sector development. The policymakers need to make policies that can lead to establishment of banking institutions in the rural areas which have limited access to banking services and create enabling legal environment for efficient allocation of credit to the private sector at the same time the supervisory organ shall establish conducive environment for banking institution which are engaging in loan granting for diversified economic sectors for private investment.

The books and pamphlets constituting the “discourses” on economic topics overstep the boundaries separating the domains of economics, religion (William Warburton, John Wesley), law (William Blackstone, Lord Mansfield), history (William Robertson, Edward Gibbon), physiology (Richard Morton, Goerge Cheyne) and politics (Edmund Burke, the Abolitionists). An impartial and inclusive history of the “discourses” is what the book purports to construct. The luminaries of the British (and Scottish) Enlightenment (Adam Smith, David Hume), are given due respects, but a great number of less well-known and even anonymous authors also feature in the book. Giving as much scope as possible to the sources themselves, the book pays attention to both the rhetorical and the thematic layers of the quotations, while keeping generalization and theorizations to the minimum. The “eighteenth-century” in the title begins in the 1680s, when some of the important authors such as Nicholas Barbon published their thoughts, and ends in the 1790s, with the contrastive pair of Edmund Burke and Jeremy Bentham.Hye-Joon Yoon

Moral Discourses of the Economy in Eighteenth-Century Britain

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, diese Sicherheitsstandards, besonders im Bereich des Social Travelling, bei Buchungen und Vermietungen von Unterkünften anhand von Airbnb Inc. zu analysieren. Hierbei werden verschiedene Stufen aufgezeigt, die bis zur einer abgeschlossenen Buchung bei Airbnb Inc. vom Kunden durchlaufen werden müssen. Im Theorieteil werden grundlegende Begrifflichkeiten wie Share Economy, Social Travelling und Sicherheitsstandards geklärt. Es wird außerdem auf die Sicherheitsstandards speziell im Social Travelling Bereich eingegangen. Im Praxisteil der Arbeit wird hingegen auf die Umsetzung der Sicherheitsstandards individuell für das Unternehmen Airbnb Inc. eingegangen. Die exemplarische Vorgehensweise von Airbnb Inc. dient hierfür als Grundlage. Die Arbeit endet mit einer Schlussbetrachtung.  Die Intention, dieser Fragestellung nachzugehen, kommt aus aktuellem Anlass. Gegenwärtig existieren im Internet zahlreiche unechte Nutzerprofile, welche die Sicherheit und Seriosität, speziell auf Sharingplattformen, erheblich beeinträchtigen. Daher sollte besonders im Share Economy Bereich auf hohe Sicherheitsstandards geachtet werden.

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Market research, , language: English, abstract: This report issues the organization of the Soft Drink Industry with a closer look at the microeconomic, macroeconomic and critical management accounting practices that the companies can leverage to expand thier market in other states. The beverage industry in the United States has been experiencing shifts in demand, taste and demographics over the past years. Most of its consumers are moving further away from soft drinks with high-standard calories to natural and more healthier options. This makes it the ideal time for companies, manufacturing natural soft drinks, to expand and corner the market. Therefore, this organization can maximize its potential in another state since its product is healthier as it has twenty-five calories, has a low minimum added sugar of about five grams and has no chemicals or preservatives. This makes it more concentrated in the natural fruits, which come in apples, oranges, pineapples, and grapes.

Economics of the Soft Drink Industry. A closer look at Management Accounting Practices

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1.15, Technical University of Ilmenau, language: English, abstract: The Shapley Value is a famous solution concept of cooperative Game Theory which aims at allocating a jointly generated payoff to the contributing members under fair circumstances. It represents a unique solution to a set of predefined fairness axioms which favoured its employment in many applications and scientific literature over the years. The resulting vast amount of literature is mainly focused on applying the Shapley Value in various areas, which created a discrepancy between the advancements in practical solutions and review sources which capture a holistic overview of possible application areas. The objectives of this literature review were therefore to firstly identify application areas, then highlight the respective employment and current advancements by integrating literature sources in a second step in order to discuss the usefulness in regard to popular non-game theoretic methods at the end. Methodically, a literature review was accomplished which utilized multiple databases and search-engines to find Shapley Value-related literature, which was used to categorize application areas. From there on, keyword- and forward/backward searches were executed for every identified application area to further enrich the literature basis. In total, 168 unique studies contributed to this review which revealed that Shapley Values are employed in Profit and Cost allocation, Marketing, Machine Learning, Politics, Portfolio and Social Network Theory and in Statistics. As this review also assessed the current and future relevance of individual application areas, it was projected that a majority of the here presented applications will be of value in the future.
