'Civil Disobedience and Necessity Defence in Climate Cases. On the justifiability of law violations motivated by climate activism under Section 34 of the German Criminal Code (StGB), with particular focus on the concepts of necessity and appropriateness': Can disruptive climate protest action be justified under Section 34 of the German Criminal Code (StGB)? Based on a critical assessment of previous legal interpretations, this thesis explores whether climate activist disobedience can be justified. Scientific findings on climate change and the evaluation of empirical protest research are integral to the analysis. The normative limits resulting from appropriateness are examined in the context of democratic principles and state climate protection deficits.
