Supply and Demand: How They Impact Markets and Buying Decisions

Impact on Buying Behavior

Mit Hilfe dieser Analysemethode werden in den einzelnen Kapiteln, ausgehend von der Frage „Was ist das Problem?“ bis hin zur Frage „Was sollen wir dagegen tun?“, einzelne Fragen beantwortet. 
Um den Begriff der Klimaneutralität in der hiesigen Transportlogistik einordnen zu können, werden einleitend die Grundlagen der Klimaneutralität erläutert. Dabei werden die Definition von Klimaneutralität, die rechtlichen Grundlagen und die historische Entwicklung von Klimaneutralität in der Logistik dargestellt. 

Es folgt die Analyse bestehender CO2-Kompensationsstrategien anhand der Corporate Social Responsibility- (CSR) und Nachhaltigkeitsberichte der Deutsche Post DHL Group, der Hermes Europe GmbH sowie der DPDgroup, um aufzuzeigen, was die genannten Logistikunternehmen bereits heute für die Kompensation ihrer emittierten THGe tun und welche Maßnahmen sie zukünftig bzw. bis zum Jahr 2050 umsetzen wollen. 

Im darauffolgenden Kapitel werden die zukünftigen Maßnahmen, die den Transport- und Logistikunternehmen zur Verfügung stehen, beleuchtet und schließlich in Kapitel sechs die Chancen und Risiken, die mit der Umsetzung dieser Maßnahmen verbunden sind, analysiert. 

Die Ergebnisse der einzelnen Analysen werden im inhaltlich abschließenden Kapitel sieben unter Berücksichtigung der Teilziele bis 2030 und der geplanten CO2-Neutralität bis 2050 bewertet und in eine Handlungsempfehlung für Transport- und Logistikunternehmen überführt. 

Die Projektarbeit schließt in Kapitel acht mit einem Fazit der vorgenannten Untersuchungen sowie einer abschließenden Bewertung der aufgestellten Hypothesen und gibt einen Ausblick auf die zukünftige Entwicklung der CO2-Kompensation in der Transport- und Logistikdienstleistungsbranche.

Using a structured methodology, the study includes a detailed literature review, survey design, and expert interviews. Key findings reveal that AI adoption in SCM is driven by increased efficiency, improved decision-making, and cost reduction. However, barriers such as data quality issues, resistance to change, and lack of understanding and trust in AI are significant. To overcome these barriers, companies should involve all stakeholders, focus on data quality, and integrate AI solutions with existing processes.

The research emphasizes avoiding common mistakes in AI implementation, such as neglecting explainability and transparency, underestimating stakeholder involvement, and rushing into large-scale implementation without pilot projects. It concludes with actionable guidelines for businesses on developing, purchasing, and implementing AI solutions in SCM. These guidelines include prioritizing data quality, enhancing technical expertise, focusing on tangible business benefits, and upholding ethical standards.

The dissertation also discusses the implications for academia and industry, acknowledging limitations and suggesting future research directions. It highlights the potential of AI to revolutionize areas like demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and transportation through advanced predictive analytics and integration with technologies like IoT, blockchain, and robotics. The study underscores the importance of ethical AI implementation, transparency, and human-AI collaboration to address SCM challenges effectively.

Drivers, Barriers and Social Considerations for AI Adoption in Supply Chain Management

Originating in China in December 2019, the virus rapidly spread to over 210 countries, resulting in more than 100 million confirmed cases worldwide and over 2 million deaths. This global crisis triggered severe disruptions across various sectors, including high-tech industries, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food supply chains. Notably, companies like Apple, Samsung, and Tesla experienced production halts due to labor shortages and supply chain constraints. Additionally, the pharmaceutical industry grappled with increased demand for essential medical supplies, while the food sector faced labor shortages and transportation disruptions. The pandemic-induced shutdowns, travel restrictions, and stringent import/export controls severely hampered international logistics, further exacerbating supply chain vulnerabilities. Consequently, the crisis highlighted the intricate interdependencies within global supply chains and underscored the urgent need for resilience, sustainability, and strategic reevaluation to mitigate future disruptions effectively.

The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Global Supply Chains

Housing means prosperity and security for some; poverty, precarity and sickness for others. More people live in private rented accommodation than ever before, and rents rise without apparent reason. Homes are smaller every year, and nearly 20 per cent of tenants live in hazardous conditions. Homelessness is at a new high. Yet the government’s only solution is to promote homeownership. Against Landlords shows that this crisis is not the product of happenstance or political incompetence. Government policy has intentionally split British citizens into homeowners and renters, two classes set on very different financial paths. In the UK, one out of every twenty-one adults is a landlord, and it is this group, and those who aspire to join it, represented by the political class. In his radical new interpretation of the housing crisis, lawyer Nick Bano explains how this environment set the conditions for the Grenfell Tower fire and how it means a life of anxiety for the nation’s renters. It is a problem that stretches far beyond London and one inherently racist in nature. Building more housing is not the solution. Why most Americans' finances improved during the worst economic contraction since the Great Depression-and the policy choices that made this possible In March 2020, economic and social life across the United States came to an abrupt halt as the country tried to slow the spread of COVID-19. In the worst economic contraction since the Great Depression, twenty-two million people lost their jobs between mid-March and mid-April of 2020. And yet somehow the finances of most Americans improved during the pandemic-savings went up, debts went down, and fewer people had trouble paying their bills. In The Pandemic Paradox, economist Scott Fulford explains this seeming contradiction, describing how the pandemic reshaped the American economy. We meet Winona, who quit her job to take care of her children; Marvin, who retired early and worried that his savings wouldn't last; Lisa, whose expenses went up after her grown kids (and their dog) moved back home; and many others. What the statistics and the stories show, Fulford argues, is that a better, fairer, more productive economy is still possible. The success of pandemic relief policy proves that Americans' economic fragility is not an unsolvable problem. But we have to choose to solve it.
