&lt;p&gt;This book provides a unique analysis of the complex relationship between governance and the global commons. It has a specific reference to the dynamic and growing outer space economy and society, and how experience in the maritime sector (which exhibits many of the same issues and challenges as outer space) can be useful in suggesting moves forward in policy-making and design.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;This book fills a large gap in the literature of both governance and the development of outer space. Whilst the maritime sector has a long history of debate, albeit little in terms of governance and policy-making, outer space has much less and what there has been, commonly focused upon technical considerations. The importance of this book is that the failures of maritime governance need to be avoided in the outer space sector which exhibits many of the same issues particularly those related to the global commons.&amp;nbsp;Innovative and exciting, this book will be of interest to academics studying corporate governance, business management, and space capitalism.&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Das Thema hat in den letzten Jahren enorm an Bedeutung gewonnen und stellt Unternehmen vor großen Herausforderungen. Wird der Aspekt Compliance nicht berücksichtigt, riskieren Unternehmen nicht nur ihre verschärfte Haftung, sondern auch ihre Wettbewerbsfähigkeit.Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, diese Herausforderungen und Besonderheiten der Compliance in internationalen Unternehmen aufzuzeigen und näher zu erläutern. Dazu werden vorhandene Literaturquellen herangezogen. Eine solche Literaturrecherche stellt einen der ersten Schritte im Prozess der Anfertigung einer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit dar. Diese wissenschaftliche Arbeit sollte jedoch keineswegs ein Produkt aus zufällig ausgewählten und komprimierten Literaturquellen sein, sondern vielmehr das Resultat einer zielgerichteten, systematischen Suche darstellen.Die Struktur der vorgelegten Arbeit gliedert sich in mehrere Bereiche mit jeweils weiteren Unterpunkten. Im ersten Kapitel werden die mit dem Thema dieser Arbeit zusammenhängenden systematische Grundlagen thematisiert. Darunter wird zunächst der Begriff Compliance definiert und den Zweck sowie die Bedeutung von Compliance für Unternehmen aufgezeigt. Außerdem wird auf den Aufbau eines  Compliance Management Systems kurz CMS eingegangen und einige der Grundelemente für ein einheitliches und internationales CMS erläutert. Darunter zählt das Element der Compliance-Kultur zu einer der wichtigsten Besonderheit.Im darauffolgenden Kapitel wird der internationale Aspekt von Compliance aufgezeigt. Denn durch die stetig wachsende Internationalisierung bzw. Globalisierung haben Unternehmen vermehrt Verantwortung zu tragen und stehen in einem vielseitigen Umfeld mit unterschiedlichen Kulturen. Dies kann im Zusammenhang mit einem einheitlichen Compliance zu großen Herausforderungen führen, weshalb zusätzlich auf die verschiedenen Kulturdimensionen eingegangen wird.Die Arbeit schließt mit einer kurzen Schlussbetrachtung ab.

Compliance in internationalen Unternehmen. Besonderheiten und Herausforderungen

&lt;p&gt;The Circular Economy (CE) and CE-related approaches are increasingly prominent in corporate strategy, with potential environmental, social, and economic benefits to the organization. However, a comprehensive framework that incorporates CE with governance and reporting practices, providing accurate assessments of CE’s success in achieving sustainability targets and other goals, is not yet in place. This book addresses that gap, analyzing the relationship between CE and sustainable development practices, company performance, and to what extent organizations have disclosed this information in annual reporting practices. It proposes different frameworks to evaluate the environmental, social, and economic impact of CE and how CE might be promoted, disclosed, and accurately assessed in reporting practices. It will be of great interest to researchers and students of sustainable development, governance, accounting, and business economics, as well as practitioners seeking a research-based framework for integrating CE into their business reporting.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Sustainability Reporting Practices and the Circular Economy

Seminar paper from the year 2022 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,7, University Witten/Herdecke, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this paper is to capture and highlight the arising opportunities that are embedded in the topic of MSPs and deliver the results in an accessible way for managers. To further establish a basic managerial guide on how to approach the possible implementation of a MSP into an own organization or as an independent start-up, an introduction to the fundamental mechanics of platforms is given. The guide holds a major focus on the challenges that are inherent to the technology, concept, and structure of MSPs to raise the awareness of managers early on and give a balanced overview of the topic at hand. This term paper is written for the seminar Digital Transformation in Organizations and is therefore limited to a theoretical nature in form of a literature review and will not engage in any form of empirical study. Regarding the above mentioned successful and failed platform businesses, the guiding question can be derived: What are the strategic challenges managers need to consider when they want to launch their own successful MSP? Relating to the considerable effort that is linked to these strategic challenges, each chapter will give a short overview of what managers should focus on when they want to tackle this specific problem. The topic of digital transformation attracts more and more businesses, mostly because they want  to ensure their viability in now rapidly changing environments. Others seek to gain an edge over  their competitors by utilizing new technologies and structures. Multi-sided platforms fulfill both criteria and their ever-growing success in the recent decade led to many all-out hunts for the next  big platform. With seven out of ten of the most valuable businesses worldwide utilizing multi-sided  platforms, many strategically acting managers seek to better understand the topic before trying to  implement it as any successful multi-sided platform is accompanied by numerous failures. This  paper contributes by uniting fundamental knowledge and new findings to create an easy-to-read  handbook about the most essential features of multi-sided platforms. In the main part, the  challenges that are inherent to the platform technology are analyzed. A focus lays on creating  condensed guidelines that managers should consider when facing specific problems.

Multisided Platforms. A Managerial View on Implementation, Challenges and Obstacles

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 1,7, IU Internationale Hochschule, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Hausarbeit wird erläutert, was Nonprofit-Organisationen sind, wie diese zu führen sind und was unter Governance in Nonprofit Organisationen zu verstehen ist. Zusätzlich werden die Herausforderungen aufgezeigt, welche sich bei der Führung von Nonprofit-Organisationen ergeben. Im Anschluss daran wird das Thema an einem konkreten Beispiel aus der Praxis erläutert.Nonprofit-Organisationen gewinnen in den letzten Jahren in Deutschland immer mehr an Bedeutung. Gerade die Führung solcher Organisationen steht häufig im Mittelpunkt des Interesses. Im Jahr 2014 stand zum Beispiel der Skandal bei Greenpeace im Fokus der Öffentlichkeit. Dort gingen bei missglückten Finanzgeschäften Spendengelder in Millionenhöhe verloren. Im Jahr 2016 machte die Organisation World-Vision auf sich aufmerksam, weil ein Angestellter 45 Millionen Dollar einer terroristischen Organisation, die sich Hamas nennt, zugespielt hat. Zu solchen Vorfällen kommt es nicht nur auf internationaler Ebene, sondern auch hier in Deutschland. Im Rheingau Taunus Kreis in Hessen wurden beim Arbeiter Samariter Bund, über zehn Jahre hinweg, Kosten für Kindertageseinrichtungen zu hoch berechnet. Dadurch ist es zu einem Schaden in Millionen Höhe gekommen. Dies berichtete die Hessenschau am 12.02.2020 um 10:04 Uhr. Ein weiteres Beispiel aus Hessen hat sich in Frankfurt am Main ereignet. Hier wurde der Leiterin einer Kindertagesstätte ein viel zu hohes Gehalt und ein Dienstwagen gezahlt. Kritisiert wurde ebenfalls, dass die Leiterin die Ehefrau des amtierenden Oberbürgermeister Peter Feldmann war. Nachzulesen ist dies in der Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung vom 11. Januar 2020. Nie standen Nonprofit-Organisationen so kritisch unter Beobachtung der Öffentlichkeit wie heute, was durch solche Beispiele, wie oben genannt verstärkt wird.

Führung und Governance in Nonprofit-Organisationen. Erläuterung anhand praktischer Beispiele

Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich BWL - Wirtschaftspolitik, Note: 2,5, Hochschule Bremen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Gegenstand der Arbeit ist die Intransparenz in den Prozessen und Verträgen der Öffentlich-Privaten-Partnerschaft der Berliner Wasserbetriebe. Mithilfe einer Literaturrecherche wird unter Einbeziehung des (Good) Governance-Konzeptes und einer Einbettung in die Liberalisierung der Trinkwasserdebatte analysiert, wie wichtig Transparenz in einem ÖPP Prozess für die politische Legitimation selbiger ist und wie diese im Vorfeld von öffentlicher Seite aus verbessert werden kann.Die Arbeitshypothese besagt, dass eine erhöhte Transparenz bei Prozessen und Verträgen einer ÖPP in der Trinkwasserversorgung zu erhöhter politischer Legitimation der ÖPP führt. Da die Thematik gleichzeitig in eine Diskussion um eine Verwaltungsreform eingebettet ist, wird diese ebenfalls aufgegriffen.Governance beschreibt letztlich eine neuartige Form des Steuerns von Staatsseite aus. Diese neuartige Steuerungsform kann aus gewisser Perspektive als verwaltungspolitisches Reformkonzept betrachtet werden. Damit hat es das „New-Public-Management“ abgelöst, welches eine Managementperspektive hatte. Governance als Reformkonzept wird in der Arbeit aufgegriffen und mit den allgemeinen Liberalisierungstrends in der Wasserversorgung sowie dem Fallbeispiel verbunden. Daraufhin erfolgt ein Fazit, welches herausstellt, dass es um das richtige Maß an Transparenz geht und sich bei ÖPP Projekten ein generelles Informationsinteresse der Allgemeinheit und Betriebsgeheimnisse der beteiligten AkteurInnen gegenüberstehen. ParlamentarierInnen haben dann die Aufgabe, in solchen Fällen zu moderieren und abzuwägen, welches Maß an Transparenz für den jeweils vorliegenden Fall das passendste wäre.

Over the past 20 years the global political economy has experienced its most profound shifts since the onset of the industrial revolution. In South Africa and the World, Mills Soko reflects on some of the salient issues that have pervaded public discourse during this time, analysing them within the context of the contemporary South African political economy and of the country's position in the world.Arranged thematically, the essays were all written during a defining period in recent history, a period that has witnessed, among others, the accession of China to the WTO, the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US, the invention of the iPad, the birth of Facebook, the 2008/9 global financial crisis, Brexit and the global coronavirus pandemic which began at the end of 2019.The turbulent multipolar world demands visionary political and economic leadership, supported by institutions well attuned to contemporary conditions. Such leadership is in short supply. Nor is the existing institutional architecture sufficiently equipped to deal with a complex array of economic, social, environmental, technological and demographic challenges.Mills Soko highlights what has not worked in terms of politics, leadership, foreign policy, the economy, the African development trajectory, corporate ethics, international trade, global governance, and the thread which underlies all these issues – the importance of strong, decisive and accountable leadership. He counters his criticism with what has worked and offers views on how some of the problems that have constrained progress in South Africa and the world can be solved.A central message emerges from his writings: leadership and governance matter, whether in the national or international context. It is a message that permeates all the chapters in the book. And it goes to the heart of what South Africa has gone through over the past two decades and where it is today.

The e-book describes and evaluates the status and functioning of the constitutional and governance systems of the Western Balkans countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Serbia), with regard to their EU-accession. As it describes the main branches of government functions, it may also be used as a handbook, which also identifies the bottlenecks of governance (especially the sensitive ethnic power sharing and representation issues) and critically examines the rule of law aspects. This comparative study covers all six countries of the region systematically, in terms of governance and rule of law. The e-book presents all major institutional fields of constitutional and administrative law: electoral system, ethnic issues, organisation of the state, separation of powers (legislative, executive, judiciary), administrative procedure, civil service, and constitutional adjudication.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Zsolt Szabó is associate professor at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. His research covers comparative constitutional law, especially parliamentary functions and legislation. He is Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Parliamentary Studies.

&lt;div&gt;This book combines modern evolutionary economics and classical political economy. Modern evolutionary economics with its pluralistic and contingent view of reproduction does not presuppose equilibrium or harmonious reproduction. A society that consists of multiple agents needs to establish an order from the interactions of those agents. The book introduces a normative and a practical dimension where mutual justification occurs through the act of exchange. Mutual justification ultimately leads to the emergence of social and economic order, an approach that the author dubs “approval theory.” The division of labor proceeds alongside the emergence of money and capital, and the book discusses the dual structure of the real and financial economy that is the consequence. It then interprets collective action using the twin concept of voice and exit and proposes the concept of evolutionary governance to explain the politico-economic aspects of the social economy.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;As such, this book shows the promising direction in which the modern political economy is now proceeding, in accordance with the contingent process of evolutionary reproduction. Further, two collaborating authors supply a game-theoretical interpretation of approval theory and an exploration of the evolution of dynamical systems, respectively.&lt;/div&gt;
