This second edition of&nbsp;The Palgrave Handbook of Criminology and the Global South&nbsp;significantly expands, develops and draws together the rapidly growing research and theory about crime, punishment, security, prisons, policing, gender violence, environmental justice, island justice and justice innovations from, in the spatial and marginal global peripheries. It challenges the hegemonic bias in the production and dissemination of criminological knowledge and covers a huge scope of original research to develop a field of criminological inquiry inclusive of the experiences of the Global South. It includes Indigenous, critical, green, southern, feminist, counter-colonial, post-colonial and de-colonial approaches. 
The handbook promotes diverse perspectives to develop concepts and theories that bridge global divides aiming to democratise criminological knowledges. It contains 86 chapters organised into eight themes and features contributions from both emerging and established scholars from around the globe. While colonialism's impacts are most visible in former colonies of the Global South, marginalised communities also exist in the Global North. The handbook, therefore, transcends geographical boundaries by incorporating theories from the margins.

This book examines the relationship between LGBTIQ communities and law in Australia from colonial times to the present day, with a particular concentration on the last 40 years. Using a socio-legal analysis that combines legislation, case law, media reports, policy materials and government data, it traces the historical shift from criminalisation and erasure to conditional legal recognition. The book develops a critical queer perspective, analysing how sexual and gender minorities moved from being classified through the figure of the criminal ‘homosexual’ to being recognised as members of LGBTIQ communities with a status of almost legal equality. Structured historically, its chapters examine distinct phases of legal reform, governance and LGBTIQ activism. The book covers key issues in sexuality, gender, family, embodiment and sex classification, while offering an extended account of the legal questions affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people. Although focused on Australia, it speaks to wider debates across post-colonial jurisdictions, Commonwealth countries and the United States. It will be of interest to students and academics in socio-legal studies, queer legal theory, sexuality and gender studies, law reform, and LGBTIQ politics and activism.Allen George

 is the first account of the most disruptive figure in Argentine history since the nation’s return to democracy. In just a few years, Javier Milei rose from television economist and social media provocateur to president of a country long defined by crisis, state intervention, and political polarization. His ascent has sparked fierce debate at home and abroad: Is Milei a threat to democracy, a neo-conservative, or the herald of a much larger revival of the classical liberal tradition?
 
 The book provides a balanced examination of Milei’s rise to power. Rather than judging his policies, economic historian Sebastián Álvarez and political philosopher Ezequiel Spector ask a deeper set of questions: Where do Milei’s ideas come from? How do they relate to Argentina’s liberal tradition and its history of populism, socialism, and authoritarianism? And what does his presidency reveal about the tensions between liberty, equality, and democracy in the twenty-first century?&nbsp;
 
 Blending economic history, political philosophy, and contemporary analysis,&nbsp;
 Argentine Freedom
 traces Argentina’s long ideological arc from the liberal foundations of the 1853 Constitution, through Peronism, military rule, neoliberal reform, and the interventionist turn after the 2001 collapse, to the two liberal “waves” that culminated in Milei’s election. Along the way, it unpacks the meanings of liberalism and libertarianism, contrasts them with their main rivals, and situates Milei within both national history and a broader global surge of anti-establishment leaders.
 
 The resulting book offers a new way to understand Javier Milei as a political actor—and Argentina as a country once again at a crossroads.
 Sebastián Álvarez
 is Professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile and Associate Researcher at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, Switzerland. His work explores the history of finance and banking in Latin America, with particular attention to how capital markets shape economic policy and international relations. He is the author of 
 Mexican Banks and Foreign Finance
 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019).
 Ezequiel Spector
 is Research Professor and Director of the Master of Arts program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile. He is the author of
