<div>This book provides a comprehensive overview of police governance in England and Wales. This volume (II) covers reform and development of tripartite governance from 1979-2025. Volume I starts from the Anglo Saxon period. These volumes analyse the key mechanisms and procedures that have sought to provide for the control and accountability of police organisations to external bodies and the means through which the conduct and work performed by police personnel is regulated internally. They discuss and evaluate the key debates and developments that have underpinned changes to police governance and the social, economic and political context within which these have emerged. They bring together a wide variety of material that relates to historical and contemporary aspects of policing. They draw upon primary (as well as secondary) source material including the use of historical documents for the early chapters. They speak to students taking courses in criminology and criminal justice studies and also those specialising in policing and to practitioners.</div>

The book explores the concept of counter-narratives to terrorism within the context of Pakistan’s unique socio-political, cultural, and historical experiences. It provides actionable insights to combat extremism, focusing on the role of ideology, socio-economic reforms, and community engagement in reducing radicalization.
As a frontline state in the global War on Terror, Pakistan deals with the rise of terrorist groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their shocking use of suicide terrorism. Despite military achievements, enduring peace remains elusive due to ideological and social origins of extremism. This book addresses the pressing necessity for counter-narratives—intellectual, cultural, and strategic outlines to challenge extremist ideologies and promote peace within and beyond the borders.
Munir Ahmad Zia Rao serves as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training), Punjab, Pakistan. Over the past twenty-five years, he has worked across operational and strategic policing domains, including counter-terrorism, criminal intelligence, and policy development. He has served with Pakistan’s National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA),&nbsp;Additional Director Anti Money Laundering Unit&nbsp; (FIA), and provincial police Training Directorate, contributing to policy development, law enforcement, national security, and community resilience initiatives. Dr. Rao holds a Ph.D. in Terrorism Studies and is recognized for his pioneering field research on suicide terrorism, including extensive interviews with failed suicide bombers and former militants. His academic work bridges empirical inquiry with critical theory, engaging with themes such as biopolitics, necropolitics, radical ideology, and de-radicalization. Beyond policing, he serves as a researcher, trainer, and policy advisor in the domains of counter-extremism, digital radicalization, and the development of sustainable peace narratives in South Asia.
