This book explores the evolution of sovereign wealth funds in Africa and their increasing significance for facilitating transaction-based economic development. How sovereign investment can address sustainable economic growth, infrastructure development, and sovereign debt reduction is presented.
 
 Innovations in sovereign investment based on climate finance solutions, asset recycling and monetization, overcoming donor gaps in social sectors, capital markets products, and mobilizing co-investment funds from commercial institutions are also highlighted. An empirical framework for assessing the potential of African sovereign wealth funds to become economic powerhouses is also offered.
 
 The book provides a roadmap for how every African country can and should establish a sovereign wealth or development fund, including those not endowed with a generous supply of natural resources.&nbsp; It will be relevant to fund managers, development professionals, commercial investors, students and researchers interested in African political economy.

 is the founder of Konfidants, a policy and investment advisory to corporates, governments, sovereign funds and international development institutions. Based in Accra, he is also the creator of the Africa Sovereign Wealth Funds Index.

 Die Geschichte insbesondere des New Deals und der sozialen Marktwirtschaft hat gezeigt: Es ist möglich, über große wirtschaftspolitische Programme nicht nur gesellschaftliche Spaltung zu überwinden, sondern auch Frieden zu sichern. Diese Programme sind heute nicht wiederholbar – unabdinglich wird aber sein, in sozialen Zusammenhalt gezielt zu investieren. Law and politics, indeed, can have a relevant function in preventing the diffusion of bad and wrong gender stereotypes.&nbsp;"Stereotypes have been and remain a notion central to feminist/ gender inquiry. This edited volume brings forth original perspectives from a wide range of scholars from multiple and diverse angles. The editors, Condello and Wagner, distinguish between the frameworks of mythos, logos and nomos to show how stereotypes are entrenched in cultural narratives, normative systems and language. Authors in the volume explore how stereotypes influence policy, cultural norms and personal identity causing discrimination and exclusion. The volume aptly underscores the importance of recognizing how race, class, ethnicity, religion amongst other identities intersect with power and play out in areas like the media, education and law.&nbsp; The various chapters reflect on the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to make sense of the persistence of stereotypes. Manny Teodoro is Robert &amp; Sylvia Wagner Professor at the La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Combining concepts and insights from (critical) security studies and science and technology studies, it argues that behind the various AI-related policy initiatives in the EU are particular narratives on security and defence based on European fears of technological innovation and strategic gaps. In this respect, the book casts light on how such beliefs have become increasingly instrumentalized in the European governance dynamics, and subsequently embedded in successive policy initiatives and security and defence research programmes. It challenges conventional understandings of AI technologies as mere security and defence-enabling instruments, by providing a conceptually driven analysis of how certain visions of AI help govern and control one of the most dynamic emergent socio-technical fields. The book will appeal to all those interested in artificial intelligence, security studies, technology and European governance.&nbsp;
 
 Raluca Csernatoni is a Research Fellow at Carnegie Europe, where she works on the nexus between European defence and emerging technologies. She is also Guest Professor at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS), Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, and Visiting Faculty in the Department of International Relations, Central European University, Austria.
