New Gender Politics in South Asia

Pour l'École Autrichienne d'Économie, trois ouvrages sont spécialement importants : les Principes de Carl Menger, l'Action Humaine de Ludwig von Mises, et Man, Economy and State de Murray Rothbard, traduit en L'Homme, l'Économie et l'État, dont voici le tome III. C'est une grande fierté de rendre accessible cet ouvrage essentiel, à la richesse qui demeure inégalée. Ce tome trois vient avec quatre autres pour constituer une série de référence. Il se concentre sur le monopole et la concurrence, constituant une des grandes contributions de l'auteur à la science économique. Voir que le libre marché ne peut pas produire de monopoles fut un résultat qui chamboula la science politique, avec des conséquences sur la pensée libérale, car alors il devient clair que tout monopole ne peut être le fruit que de la législation. Soulignons le tour de force de Rothbard dans ce livre, sur un sujet qui par nature pourrait être très technique, celui de savoir rester accessible à tous les lecteurs. L'abondance des exemples très concrets tirés de la vie de tous jours, servant de fil rouge aux développements des notions, rend la lecture aisée. Rappelons de plus qu'un traité d'économie autrichienne ne contient aucune de ces formules faisant fuir les débutants. L'approche suivie par Rothbard est très pédagogique, les situations sont très précises et détaillées, souvent illustrées par des graphiques, inattendus mais réellement ' autrichiens '. Murray Rothbard, pour convaincre ses lecteurs, a parié sur la pertinence des explications. Cela nous a ainsi donné un livre qui reste et restera longtemps incontournable. Enfin aujourd'hui, malgré de fortes résistances des théories mainstream, l'École autrichienne dispose d'un instrument précieux dans la langue de Frédéric Bastiat et de Gustave de Molinari...

This edited open access volume offers a comprehensive analysis of new and traditional funding models for the arts and culture. In the economic and political contexts of reduced art funding, the book takes an objective, pragmatic and heterodox approach to demonstrate how financial sustainability in the arts can be achieved via a range of top-down and bottom-up mechanisms which are valued either in terms of institutional or crowd-based legitimacy. &nbsp;The book aims to offer both a scholarly interpretation of established and emerging funding and financing practices within the cultural and creative sector, as well as guidance for artists, creators, and cultural programmers through various case studies and multiple examples of current practices. Contributions are divided into three sections. Section one outlines the most important traditional tools and models, while the second part covers the key contemporary practices premised on the use of digital platforms, and the final part introduces several case studies. The objective of this volume is to demonstrate that while traditional models show no signs of being supplanted, digitalisation has facilitated the emergence of new forms. Such an evolution has consequences for creators of works as well as those willing to support them. The contributions address these issues by investigating and analysing the individual or combined adoption of traditional and new funding and financing models in a post-digital context.

This book examines how artificial intelligence systems and their applications in security and defence are entangled with governance and policy processes in the EU. Combining concepts and insights from (critical) security studies and science and technology studies, it argues that behind the various AI-related policy initiatives in the EU are particular narratives on security and defence based on European fears of technological innovation and strategic gaps. In this respect, the book casts light on how such beliefs have become increasingly instrumentalized in the European governance dynamics, and subsequently embedded in successive policy initiatives and security and defence research programmes. It challenges conventional understandings of AI technologies as mere security and defence-enabling instruments, by providing a conceptually driven analysis of how certain visions of AI help govern and control one of the most dynamic emergent socio-technical fields. The book will appeal to all those interested in artificial intelligence, security studies, technology and European governance.&nbsp;
 
 Raluca Csernatoni is a Research Fellow at Carnegie Europe, where she works on the nexus between European defence and emerging technologies. She is also Guest Professor at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS), Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, and Visiting Faculty in the Department of International Relations, Central European University, Austria.
