Technical Behavioural Interview Mastery

The proven story system for STAR answers, leadership signals, and job offers in tech and business

Creative Junk Journaling

Why do some businesses thrive while many more struggle? In this age of disruption, a key reason is the failure of many leaders to realign all the moving parts of their enterprise, including its business strategy and how it is organised, to best support its enduring purpose. Thousands of enterprises globally are operating below their potential simply because they are not well aligned or fail to realign to reflect the new realities of their changing business environment. This book aims to change that. This book is about strategic realignment, a leadership process to overcome disruption and secure high performance on a sustainable basis. Given that change is a constant and disruption to the business environment ever more likely, strategic realignment must become a core competency in order that all enterprises and leaders can succeed in the future. Most executives recognise this but lack a robust system of thought to execute strategic realignment effectively and realise its full benefits. But once mastered, strategic realignment offers a means of turning disruption into an advantage. In Re:Align, Jonathan Trevor provides a blueprint to help leaders ask good questions, have better conversations and make the best possible choices to realign their enterprise to be fit for purpose. Drawing upon active research at the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School (with contributions from the joint works of Dr Jonathan Trevor and Dr Barry Varcoe), the book also provides practical case studies and evidence-based insights. Re:Align offers both a thoughtful and compelling message as well as an effective toolkit to help leaders everywhere to overcome disruption and improve enterprise performance.

Over the past decade, Artificial Intelligence has proved invaluable in a range of industry verticals such as automotive and assembly, life sciences, retail, oil and gas, and travel. The leading sectors adopting AI rapidly are Financial Services, Automotive and Assembly, High Tech and Telecommunications. Travel has been slow in adoption, but the opportunity for generating incremental value by leveraging AI to augment traditional analytics driven solutions is extremely high.

The contributions in this book, originally published as a special issue for the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management, showcase the breadth and scope of the technological advances that have the potential to transform the travel experience, as well as the individuals who are already putting them into practice.

Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing

An updated edition of the essential guide for all scientists--from undergraduates to senior scholars--who want to produce prose that anyone can understand. Scientific writing is often dry, wordy, and difficult to understand. But, as biologist and experienced teacher of scientific writing Anne E. Greene shows in Writing Science in Plain English, writers from all scientific disciplines can learn to produce clear, concise prose by mastering just a few simple principles. This short, focused guide presents roughly a dozen such principles based on what readers need to understand complex information, including concrete subjects, strong verbs, consistent terms, organized paragraphs, and correct sentence structure. Greene illustrates each principle with real-life examples of both good and bad writing and shows how bad writing might be improved. She ends each chapter with revision exercises (and provides suggested answers in a separate key) so that readers can come away with new writing skills after just one sitting. To help readers understand the grammatical terms used in the book, an appendix offers a refresher course on basic grammar. For this second edition, Greene has incorporated the latest research on what makes writing effective and engaging and has revised or replaced exercises and exercise keys where needed. She has also added new features that make it easier to navigate the book. A new resource for instructors who use Writing Science in Plain English in their classes is a free, online teacher's guide. Drawn from Greene's long experience teaching students how to write science clearly, the teacher's guide provides additional lectures, assignments, and activities that will inform and enliven any class.

Academic Paper from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 1,7, International School Of Management, Campus Frankfurt, language: English, abstract: This term paper will start with describing some basic characteristics of Coco-Bonds and their market behaviour. This first chapter should help to understand the product itself and its features. Afterwards the basic idea behind Basel III and resulting regulations under CRD and CRR are described and linked to Coco-Bonds as a product. In the last chapter it is discussed whether and under which circumstances Coco-Bonds belong to the equity capital of a bank and thus strengthen the equity base. After the financial crisis in 2008 one of the main objectives the regulatory- and supervisory authority had, was to strengthen and increase the equity base of banks. This should ensure a better preparation for coming crises. In October 2011 the Basel Committee set the stage for a financial product, allowing it to play a ma-jor role in building up regulatory equity capital, as defined in Basel III. The product to reach the regulatory requirements are Contingent Convertible Bonds (short: Coco-Bonds). These bonds are a niche financial product which, as a result of the increasing regulatory requirements, in recent years were often issued by banks. Although these securities are issued as a bond with a fixed coupon, in case of a certain event, the Coco-Bonds are converted into equity or are written off. Due to this, Coco-Bonds often pay a high coupon rate, which could make them, especially within the currently low interest rate environment, look like an attractive investment. However a high coupon payment always means a related risk.

Master's Thesis from the year 2020 in the subject Engineering - Industrial Engineering and Management, grade: 3.11, Coventry University (Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing), course: Master of Science in Oil and Gas Management, language: English, abstract: Petroleum price regulation was implemented in Ghana with the ratification of the National Petroleum Authority Act, 2005 [Act 691] that further established the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) as the regulator for the downstream petroleum industry whose key directive is to control, supervise and oversee the operations of the industry and to create a Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) for price unification in the industry. This transpired against the context of a time-frame in which petroleum products were imported, marketed and priced under state control. The study’s findings showed that the financial performance of the OMCs which was measured using ROE was higher during the period of price regulation between 2013 and mid–2015 (June 2015) compared to the deregulation periods (i.e. mid–2015 to 2019). However, the OMCs’ gross sales have dramatically appreciated relative to the regulatory era during the deregulation phase. The study recommends refinement of the pricing methods to ensure that it accommodates and addresses the issues posed by major downstream industry stakeholders in order to ensure the sustainability of the margins of the sector and thereby improve the financial and overall operational efficiency of which is expected to have a trickle-down effect on the economy.

Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, grade: 1.0, University of Birmingham, language: English, abstract: How should a scientific software vendor design its marketing activities to effectively boost its sales numbers taking into account the multifacetedness of organizational buying behavior in the pharmaceutical industry? The rapid technological advent along with the growing need to increase R&D efficiency in the pharmaceutical industry has brought scientific software into focus. For scientific software vendors to successfully tap into that niche market, it is crucial to grasp the complexities of the dynamic decision-making involved in such buying processes. However, the body of organizational buying literature does not address this niche market. Hence, this qualitative interview study aims at providing insights into this process, its participants, and factors driving their decision-making. A thematic analysis reveals that, for investments involving low six-figure sums and below, the buying process generally progresses through six sequential phases eventually resulting in a purchase followed by a single post-purchase phase. What this study highlights is the importance of scientific users, in spite of their hierarchical level, in the decision-making process. The actual buying decision, which is made by consensus, is positively influenced by a set of three deciding factors: product features, soft factors, and economic factors. Based on these findings, scientific software vendors are encouraged to strive for becoming a thought leader by following a science-heavy content marketing strategy.
