Chromed Columns Abu Dhabi
 is an artist's book in which sculptor Sandra Peters focuses on an architectural detail in the urban environment in which she lives and works. These are chrome-mirrored columns that are ubiquitous in downtown Abu Dhabi, but also characterize the urban landscapes of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) beyond. In everyday perception, the chrome-mirrored columns on the facades of buildings remain inconspicuous, even virtually invisible; only when isolated thematically do they come into consideration as significant elements of the urban environment, which they absorb like convex mirrors.
 

 
 The photographic documentation of her urban environment is an integral part of Peters' artistic practice. She often develops sculptural works from her observations. In 
 Chromed Columns Abu Dhabi
 , she reverses this relationship: the columns in the urban space of Abu Dhabi are architectural details, but Sandra Peters isolates them photographically and thematically as elements that have sculptural potential. She has selected 51 photographs for her publication. These are presented as a series of full-page illustrations. Further contexts for viewing the photographs are provided by an introductory text by the artist and an essay by architect and urbanism researcher George Katodrytis.

What can art and artists bring to researching the origins and biographies of objects? How do they shed new light on - or even unsettle - existing approaches to such questions? Proposing the new term - artistic provenance research - the contributors to this innovative book illuminate art's capacity to expand provenance research in critical and provocative ways. Presenting in-depth examination of fascinating historical and contemporary examples, contributors to Artistic Provenance Research investigate knowledge-imagination dynamics, and questions of materiality, experimentation and speculation. They probe relationships between presences and absences, the aesthetic and the ontological, the scientific and the curatorial. The cases address a wide range of pressing issues of contemporary heritage research and practice, including those of colonialism and decolonization, ownership and art-markets, institutionalization, human remains, return and restitution. Through the exploration of selected artistic works in diverse media - including drama, performance, installation, photography and text - this book highlights the transformative potentials of artistic provenance research.

The first sacred building on the site of today's St. Reinoldi Church in Dortmund was likely erected as early as the 9th century as a Carolingian mission center. Excavations after World War II uncovered the foundations of a 10th-century hall church. The present structure, rebuilt after the war, reflects the 1270 construction in the transitional style from Romanesque to Gothic, with late Gothic additions. PULS, an initiative of Bukarest's National Museum for Contemporary Art (MNAC) began during the COVID-crisis. Since then, the museum supports Romanian artists by biennially purchasing more than 100 relevant creative works, carefully selected from a large pool of submissions by a democratic jury of artists and art professionals. PULS22 showcases in book-form MNAC's most recent acquisitions and their subsequent exhibition.
