Welthandel zwischen Integration und Desintegration

Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich VWL - Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen, Note: 2,3, FernUniversität Hagen (Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit soll auf Basis aktuellerer Wirtschaftsdaten eine Prognose über mögliche Auswirkungen eines Brexits auf das Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP) und Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) getroffen werden. Da sich die Zeichen für einen harten Brexit in den letzten Monaten verdichtet haben, liegt der Fokus im Folgenden auf dieser Option. Dazu wird ein regressionsanalytischer Ansatz gewählt, um mögliche Einflussfaktoren dieser beiden Größen zu berücksichtigen. Kombiniert wird dieser mit einem ARIMA-Modell, welches ein Werkzeug der Zeitreihenanalyse ist. Zunächst werden daher theoretische Grundlagen zu Regression, Zeitreihen und ARIMA vorgestellt. Im Nachgang wird ein ARIMAX-Modell erstellt und auf Geeignetheit untersucht, um im Anschluss Aussagen über die britische BIP- und FDI-Entwicklung nach dem Brexit zu treffen.

Die Auswirkungen des Brexits auf Foreign Direct Investments und Bruttoinlandsprodukt Großbritanniens

Seminar paper from the year 2021 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, grade: 3.0, University of California, Irvine, course: Asian Studies, language: English, abstract: What is the impact of Chinese foreign direct investment on the growth and economic performance of Asian countries?In recent decades, China has progressively become one of the nations with the highest foreign direct investment (FDI) levels. The country has attracted more than $1.5 trillion in FDI during the last three decades. Notably, the large volumes of FDI inflows have promoted Chinese economic growth in terms of capital creation, export expansion, increased competition, employment establishment, and technology transfer. There exists a broad range of literature discussing the impact of FDI on economic development. Amongst those studies, it is universally agreed upon that FDI positively influences the economic growth of a country and a region. Still, some researchers have found that FDI leads to negative effects on the economic growth of a host nation. Only a few studies have focused on specific FDI from one nation or the influence on diverse developing countries. As such, my study aims to fill gaps within this research.The proposed study examines the impact of Chinese-specific FDI on the growth and economic performance in six Asian states – Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The research will use a cross-country log-linear regression, analyzing the data from 2010 to 2019. To my understanding, no study has specifically examined the effect of Chinese FDI on growth and economic performance using a similar time range. The data from the selected six Asian countries will help identify the variations of FDI on the economic development of the entire region. I will contain all relevant data for all nations within the panel data set. By focusing on these countries and the particular time range, I will help improve the existing literature.

The Impact of Chinese Foreign Direct Investment on Growth and Economic Performance of Asian Countries

Human-Machine Interaction), course: Master-Thesis VWL, language: English, abstract: Künstliche Intelligenz im Gerichtssaal – Warum Juristen zögern und wie sich das ändern lässt. 

Ob im privaten Alltag, in der Industrie oder in der Medizin – Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) ist längst keine Zukunftsmusik mehr. Doch in einem Bereich scheint der technologische Fortschritt nur zögerlich Einzug zu halten: der juristischen Welt. Warum begegnen Jurist:innen und Fachpersonal der KI mit Skepsis? Und was müsste passieren, damit sich das ändert? 

Diese Arbeit geht genau diesen Fragen auf den Grund. Sie bietet einen fundierten Einstieg in das Thema „Künstliche Intelligenz im Recht“, erklärt zentrale Begriffe, beleuchtet Einsatzmöglichkeiten und benennt die Herausforderungen, mit denen Legal Tech – also KI im juristischen Einsatz – konfrontiert ist. Der Blick richtet sich dabei vor allem auf die Menschen hinter der Robe: Was hindert sie daran, digitale Werkzeuge zu nutzen, die Prozesse beschleunigen und den Arbeitsalltag spürbar erleichtern könnten? 

Zur Erklärung dieses Widerstands wird das Technology Acceptance Model nach Venkatesh und Bala (2008) herangezogen – ein Modell, das das Nutzerverhalten gegenüber neuer Technologie analysiert und zeigt, wie Wahrnehmung, Nutzen und Erwartungshaltungen Akzeptanz beeinflussen. Doch damit nicht genug: Die Autorin verfolgt einen innovativen Ansatz und kombiniert die Erkenntnisse mit der Nudge-Theorie von Thaler und Sunstein (2008). Deren zentrale These: Menschen lassen sich durch subtile Impulse – sogenannte „Nudges“ – zu gewünschten Entscheidungen lenken, ohne ihnen diese aufzuzwingen. 

Im Rahmen einer empirischen Untersuchung wurden Jurist:innen aus verschiedenen Bereichen befragt. Zwei Gruppen wurden dabei unterschiedlich informiert – mit erstaunlichem Ergebnis: Bereits kleine, gezielt platzierte Informationen zur Alltagstauglichkeit von KI konnten kurzfristig die Wahrnehmung positiv beeinflussen. Es zeigte sich ein klarer Zusammenhang zwischen dem wahrgenommenen Nutzen und der Bereitschaft, KI-Systeme zu akzeptieren. 

Diese Arbeit ist mehr als nur eine theoretische Abhandlung – sie ist ein praxisrelevanter Impulsgeber für alle, die Digitalisierung im Rechtswesen aktiv gestalten wollen. Sie bietet nicht nur Erklärungsmodelle, sondern konkrete Ansätze, wie durch psychologisches Feingefühl die Tür zur digitalen Transformation auch im konservativ geprägten juristischen Umfeld geöffnet werden kann.

The analysis argues that different perspectives are necessary to develop effective solutions for the problem, as various factors contribute to global poverty. The essay is structured to explore how each theory can be used to create solutions and how they can be combined to create a comprehensive approach. The study's main conclusion is that different international relations theories are essential in understanding global poverty and developing effective solutions, and it is crucial to have different approaches in developing solutions for the problem.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich VWL - Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen, Note: 1,2, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Publikation ist es, zu untersuchen, inwieweit das deutsche Lieferkettengesetz zu einer Verbesserung der sozioökonomischen Situation in Deutschland führen kann. Stehen die guten politischen und wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Costa Rica aufgrund dieser vom Ausland auferlegten Standards auf der Kippe? Das deutsche Lieferkettengesetz tritt in Deutschland am ersten Januar 2023 in Kraft und verpflichtet deutsche Unternehmen formell zur Einhaltung und Überprüfung von Umwelt- und Menschenrechtsstandards. In Costa Rica werden neben medizinischen und elektronischen Produkten auch landwirtschaftliche Erzeugnisse exportiert. Vor allem Bananen und Ananas, die von Unternehmen produziert werden, die den internationalen Handel dominieren, wie Chiquita, Del Monte, Dole und Fyff. Diese Produkte werden zu niedrigen Preisen von den großen Supermarktketten in Deutschland gekauft, die die Supermarktketten in Deutschland, die von einer großen Gewinnspanne profitieren. Die landwirtschaftlichen Plantagen in Costa Rica befinden sich in Regionen des Landes, in denen es kaum Beschäftigungsalternativen gibt und die Bevölkerung ein niedriges Bildungsniveau hat. Die Menschen werden in diesen sich wiederholenden Kreislauf hineingeboren und sind den prekären Arbeitsbedingungen ausgesetzt, die in Costa Rica herrschen. Einkommen am Existenzminimum, lange Arbeitszeiten, die Schwächung der Gewerkschaften, unzureichende Schutzausrüstung, der Einsatz hochgiftiger Chemikalien, die fehlende soziale Absicherung und die Diskriminierung von Arbeitnehmergruppen sowie des Sozialversicherungsschutzes und die Diskriminierung von Gruppen wie Migranten und Frauen sind häufig.

Mögliche Auswirkungen des deutschen Lieferkettengesetzes auf die Agrarindustrie in Costa Rica

Seminar paper from the year 2024 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, grade: A (91%), , language: English, abstract: Analyzing nocturnal economies in the Global South, this paper has noted that the concept plays a crucial role in urbanization and socio-economic development. Some areas that have benefited from increased demands due to urban development and changing lifestyles include hospitality, entertainment, and transport industries, especially at night. In Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, key cities showcase the economic benefits of night activities through employment and tourism. However, nocturnal economies are not without challenges, such as security issues, lack of infrastructure, poor and inconsistent policies, and sociocultural factors. Ideally, efficiency in policy reforms, infrastructure, security, and technology are critical for more sustainable growth. Licensing must be made simpler, night markets must be encouraged, and collaboration between the government and private entities must be encouraged. Mitigating these challenges and building on these opportunities can significantly improve the socio-economic development in the Global South and create sustainable and equitable nocturnal economies.

Exploring Nocturnal Economies in the Global South. Challenges, Opportunities and Future Prospects

Fachhochschule Köln, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Ausarbeitung beschäftigt sich inhaltlich mit den Prämissen der Produktionsverlagerung ins Ausland. Zunächst wird die theoretische Fundierung dargelegt, um das Lesen und das Verstehen der Ausarbeitung zu erleichtern. Im dritten Kapitel werden die Vor- und Nachteile eines international verflochtenen Produktionsverbunds erörtert. Dafür werden im vierten Kapitel verschiedene Kennzahlen, mit denen sich die Umsetzung steuern lassen, identifiziert. Zusätzlich wird untersucht, welche kritischen Erfolgsfaktoren vorhanden sein müssen. Um dies besser zu veranschaulichen, wird in dieser Ausarbeitung anhand des Fallbeispiels der Stellantis N.V analysiert, wie erfolgreich die Produktionsverlagerung der Opel-Mutter von Rüsselsheim nach Marokko ist. Dazu wird im ersten Schritt das Unternehmen vorgestellt, um einen Überblick der Geschäftsaktivitäten zu ermöglichen. Im zweiten Schritt wird die Produktionsverlagerung von Rüsselsheim nach Marokko genauer untersucht, um im dritten Schritt herauszufinden, welche Erfolgsfaktoren die Stellantis N.V beachtet hat.

Analyse der Steuerungskennzahlen bei der Umsetzung von internationalen  Produktionsverlagerungen am Fallbeispiel der Opel-Mutter Stellantis N.V

Master's Thesis from the year 2020 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, grade: 2,0, Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg (Wirtschaftswissenschaften), language: English, abstract: Due to the fact that most personality examinations concentrate on the Chief Executive Officer, this master thesis provides an explanation for the gap in empirical studies regarding the traits narcissism, overconfidence and extraversion in the top executive team. The purpose is to state why the remaining executive team is not targeted yet in personality research. With the help of a literature review on 80 journals, the obstacles on analyzing character traits in top managers are taken into account. Hereby, the research settings are divided into two main categories: self-report measures and the outsider perspective, which uses unobtrusive indicators or linguistic features in order to detect the three traits. In this context, similarities and differences are specified and several limitations on converting current research designs towards the board team are pointed out. Further, this paper criticizes measurement methods which use unobtrusive indicators, as they do not consider the importance of the Top Management Team (TMT) as an intervening mechanism. As a last step,  this thesis provides a summary on the contributions to the gap in literature and recommends future research to stronger include the top team in regard of character attributes in order to detect firm performance more precisely.  

Personality traits in the top management team. The role of Narcissism, Overconfidence and Extraversion

Master's Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Economics - International Economic Relations, grade: 1,0, New Bulgarian University (Economics), course: International Business, language: English, abstract: This master's thesis will deal with the different market entry strategies of German companies in Bulgaria. More specifically, I will focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), since they do not have the financial strength and confidence of large enterprises and corporations, and it would be interesting to examine their behaviour when entering a foreign market. An overview of the micro- and large enterprises will also be presented in order to further support the statements made about SMEs. Through an empirical and comparative analysis of a report of the German-Bulgarian chamber of industry and commerce, I will give an answer to the question, whether is this even worth it and if so, what strategy would be most successful for them and what factors influence the most. The analysis will begin with a more global overview of international business and especially internationalization. The definition of internationalization, its meaning and its relation to entering foreign markets will be presented. In the third chapter, the term market entry will be introduced, as well as the different possible strategies and variations for this. The fourth chapter will focus on small and medium-sized enterprises - what exactly they are in general, in Bulgaria and in Germany, what are the main differences between them and the large ones and why they are important. After that, a legal framework of the situation in Bulgaria will be presented - the economic development of the country, its business environment, corporate law, forms and taxes. All this will be considered in order to get to the heart of this thesis in the sixth chapter - the empirical and comparative analysis and the results drawn from them. Concrete samples with German companies in Bulgaria will be used in the study. Several variables will play a role in my research such as location, type of the enterprise, market entry method, industry and market participation. Based on it, specific problems will be discussed and finally conclusions will be drawn on the determining factors of market entry behaviour of German companies on the Bulgarian market. The master thesis will end with a summary of the main conclusions.

Exploring Market Entry Strategies of German SMEs in Bulgaria. An Empirical Analysis and Comparative Study

Fachhochschule Köln, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Hausarbeit untersucht die verschiedenen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten der Internationalisierung deutscher Unternehmen anhand des Fallbeispiels adidas. Zunächst wird die theoretische Fundierung dargelegt, was das Lesen und das Verstehen der Ausarbeitung erleichtern soll. Zudem werden die Motive eines Unternehmens im Zuge der Internationalisierung dargestellt. Der Internationalisierungsprozess geschieht nicht von heute auf morgen, denn dahinter steckt ein hoher Aufwand und viele im Vorfeld festgelegte Strategien, welche im dritten Kapitel analysiert werden. Im vierten Kapitel wird die adidas AG einer Analyse unterzogen, dazu wird das Unternehmen vorgestellt, um einen Einblick in die Geschäftsaktivitäten zu ermöglichen. Im zweiten Schritt der Analyse werden die internationalen strategischen Ausrichtungen dargestellt, um im letzten Kapitel ein Fazit mit einem Ausblick in die Zukunft ziehen zu können.

L’approche de l’indépendance mixte passe par l’indépendance politique puis l’indépendance économique. Cette approche théorique analyse deux préoccupations: l’Indépendance politique et économique. L’un des moyens à la disposition des théoriciens et praticiens de Relations internationales pour proposer des théories et stratégies de développement plus robustes répondant simultanément aux exigences de la croissance économique durable des Etats et l'équité est d'examiner les leçons tirées des stratégies passées et d'en apprendre davantage sur les succès et les échecs enregistrés.
