Recognising a Human Right to Abortion

This book critiques international and regional human rights standards on abortion from a feminist perspective, exploring the progress made and lack thereof on the protection of abortion rights within the EU, UN, Inter-American and African systems. Drawing on the idea that human rights are aspirational tools which can be transformed to make progress on abortion rights from the bottom-up, this book sets out a globally applicable framework and makes recommendations for recognising the human right to abortion. In the face of a growing global backlash against abortion rights, this is a topical, timely and compelling work.
