Since its initial 2011 publication, Theory from the South has stimulated a new field of inquiry from leading scholars, while world developments have escalated and supported its original thesis of how "Euroamerica has evolved toward Africa." Not least of these is the many resemblances of the Trump presidency to that of Jacob Zuma, transformations in the nature of many of the world's Northern democracies, the rise of populist politics, the intensifying hold of private capital over functions of the state, sharpening inequalities, and the transformation of labor. In a new chapter for this expanded edition, the Comaroffs extend their theorizing around and beyond these new developments. Worldwide neoliberal urban planning and securitisation create childhoods marked by segregation, confinement and isolation. Especially in middle- and upper-class milieus, childhood appears as a spatial crisis in which children are patronised and disempowered in the name of protection. Claudia Mock draws on intergenerational biographies and mental maps from Nairobi and Berlin to reveal how security discourses intertwine with bourgeois values and architectures, reshaping childhoods in these cities in surprisingly similar ways since 1960. By identifying bourgeois lifestyles and adultism as integral to anthropocentric urban crises, she calls for cities to be reimagined through intergenerational spatial justice.

The TV and Movie industries created the Italian American stereotypes we know today. 
These stereotypes don't reflect the extraordinary impacts of Italian American individuals of all ages and economic backgrounds on the cultural and economic advancement of the United States to address this, the Italian American Reputation Lab (IARL) is presenting an analytic report on how the historical and current Italian diaspora depict a very different narrative than the mainstream media of how Italian-Americans have contributed to shaping the cultural and economic fabric of the United States.

Davide Ippolito is one of the foremost international experts on Reputation Literacy, Reputation Management, and Contents Creation. He's a publisher, a filmmaker, and a producer of both feature films and documentaries which are available on Amazon Prime and Pluto. Founder of the streaming media platform Business+, he serves as the Chief Scientific Officer for the USA-based Italian American Reputation Lab (IARL). For a decade Ippolito consulted with prominent Italian organizations and media/TV outlets operating in the diplomatic, academic, and industrial sectors. In recent years he has been engaged by international and US entities such as the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), the Columbus Foundation, and the United Nations. Davide has authored several books on the Reputation Management topic and on September 12th, 2023, he released his new docu-film "New York Solo Andata" at the Italian Cultural Center of New York City. Davide regularly writes for several Italian magazines and newspapers, and he participates in various Italian national television news programs and talk shows.

Against Stereotypes - The Real Reputation of Italian American

The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind (French: Psychologie des Foules; literally: Psychology of Crowds) is a book authored by Gustave Le Bon that was first published in 1895.

In the book, Le Bon claims that there are several characteristics of crowd psychology: "impulsiveness, irritability, incapacity to reason, the absence of judgement of the critical spirit, the exaggeration of sentiments, and others. Le Bon claimed that "an individual immersed for some length of time in a crowd soon finds himself - either in consequence of magnetic influence given out by the crowd or from some other cause of which we are ignorant - in a special state, which much resembles the state of fascination in which the hypnotized individual finds himself in the hands of the hypnotizer.

In Shock and Yawn, Megan Sibbett confronts state-sanctioned, mundane violence committed in the name of protection and argues that queer storytelling is an ideal avenue for recognizing, theorizing, and subverting it: Through queer stories, we have a direct window into the real-world ramifications of violence that purports to be for the public good. This violence, reinforced and normalized through surveillance campaigns, failure-to-protect laws, border policies, and government messaging, is obscured by both its banality and its benevolent veneer, in which children, or imagined children, are central to its logic of protection.
 
 Building on queer theorists' critiques of intimate and administrative violence, especially Gloria Anzaldúa's "intimate terrorism," Sibbett develops methodologies for conceptualizing and subverting violence aimed at queer, racialized, and gendered bodies in this era of surveillance and increasing authoritarianism. Sibbett addresses book bans, anti-trans legislation, idealized histories of westward expansion, and more, examining materials that include public service announcements, advertising, social media, news reports, poems, interviews, and novels. In so doing, she demonstrates the crucial role queer testimonies-and queer histories and queer futures-play in revealing systemic violence and illuminating the transformative potential of everyday resistance.

The Book of Tea ¿A Japanese Harmony of Art, Culture, and the Simple Life (1906) by Okakura Kakuz¿ (1906) is a long essay linking the role of chad¿ (teaism) to the aesthetic and cultural aspects of Japanese life and protesting Western caricatures of "the East".

Addressed to a Western audience, it was originally written in English and is one of the great English tea classics. Okakura had been taught at a young age to speak English and was proficient at communicating his thoughts to the Western mind. In his book, he discusses such topics as Zen and Taoism, but also the secular aspects of tea and Japanese life. The book emphasizes how Teaism taught the Japanese many things, the most important of which were simplicity and humility:

It (Teaism) insulates purity and harmony, the mystery of mutual charity, the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life.

This, Okakura believed, was an aesthetic that should inform everything from the arts and architecture to daily life and was already informing them in Japan.
