Family governance

At the heart of family business performance

Family businesses occupy a central place in contemporary economies, and are attracting growing interest in management science. Their particularity, based on the articulation of family and entrepreneurial logics, requires theoretical clarification to understand the internal mechanisms that govern them. Among them, family governance is a strategic lever for ensuring sustainability and optimizing performance. In Morocco, where these companies represent a major economic fabric, their governance remains little explored, despite its crucial role in regulating family relationships and consolidating performance. This book analyzes the theoretical and practical underpinnings of family governance through a qualitative, interpretivist approach. The results show that family businesses develop specific mechanisms to promote transparency, communication and a better structuring of roles. Those that sustainably integrate these practices strengthen their resilience and overall performance.
