'The Influence of the Betriebsrätemodernisierungsgesetz on Works Council Decision-Making. Virtual Works Council Meetings and Data Protection Responsibility': The study examines the impact of the ¿Betriebsrätemodernisierungsgesetz¿ on works council decision-making. It focuses on the permanent authorization of virtual works council meetings (§§ 30, 33, 34 BetrVG) and the new regulation of data protection responsibility (§ 79a BetrVG). The analysis shows that virtual meetings increase the flexibility of works council work, while simultaneously posing risks to uninfluenced decision-making. In particular, the assignment of data protection responsibility to the employer affects key structural principles of works council law. The study concludes that virtual meeting formats should be further developed, while data protection responsibility should be assigned to the works council itself.
