This second edition of&nbsp;The Palgrave Handbook of Criminology and the Global South&nbsp;significantly expands, develops and draws together the rapidly growing research and theory about crime, punishment, security, prisons, policing, gender violence, environmental justice, island justice and justice innovations from, in the spatial and marginal global peripheries. It challenges the hegemonic bias in the production and dissemination of criminological knowledge and covers a huge scope of original research to develop a field of criminological inquiry inclusive of the experiences of the Global South. It includes Indigenous, critical, green, southern, feminist, counter-colonial, post-colonial and de-colonial approaches. 
The handbook promotes diverse perspectives to develop concepts and theories that bridge global divides aiming to democratise criminological knowledges. It contains 86 chapters organised into eight themes and features contributions from both emerging and established scholars from around the globe. While colonialism's impacts are most visible in former colonies of the Global South, marginalised communities also exist in the Global North. The handbook, therefore, transcends geographical boundaries by incorporating theories from the margins.

Muzharul Islam (1923–2012) has left behind an outstanding architectural legacy in Bangladesh. Yet until now, his work has remained relatively unknown despite its relevance and singularity. This monograph presents numerous photographs and reproductions of detailed original drawings to introduce a series of unique buildings to an international audience. Yet until now, his work has remained relatively unknown despite its relevance and singularity. This monograph presents numerous photographs and reproductions of detailed original drawings to introduce a series of unique buildings to an international audience, highlighting the Bengali architect’s way of thinking and actions, as well as his engagement in cross-cultural dialogue. Contributions by practising architects from different continents present multifaceted perspectives on Islam’s work, placing him within a historical context and global interconnections. Muzharul Islam’s pioneering and timeless works address burning issues that are currently shaping the global architectural debate: climate-sensitive and self-sufficient construction, social engagement and overcoming colonial mindsets are all fields that the architect pursued relentlessly since the beginning of his career in the 1950s. His ideas are no less relevant today than those of Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi and Charles Correa, translating the often abstract conceptual construct of Modern building into a sensorial, approachable and contextual architecture that naturally integrates its users’ way of life. Islam, who studied in the USA and England in the 1950s and 1960s, called for Modern architecture that was compatible with the local climate and culture, without lapsing into provincialism or unthinking internationalism. In keeping with his ideal of intercultural dialogue, he managed to attract international protagonists such as his teacher Paul Rudolph, his fellow student Stanley Tigerman and ultimately Louis I. Kahn to carry out important building tasks in his homeland. Numerous contemporary photographs, plans and reproductions of Islam’s masterful original drawings take the readership on a voyage of discovery. Essays by former companions and the editors present multifaceted perspectives on Islam’s work, placing him within a historical context and current global interconnections.

Muzharul Islam (1923-2012) hat in Bangladesch ein herausragendes architektonischen Werk hinterlassen, das weit über seinen zeitlichen und geografischen Entstehungshorizont Relevanz besitzt. Trotz dessen Bedeutung und Einmaligkeit ist es jedoch noch immer verhältnismässig wenig bekannt.
Durch zahlreiche Photographien und Reproduktionen detailreicher Originalzeichnungen stellt diese Monografie einen Reigen von stupenden Bauwerken, die inklusive Denkweise und die kulturübergreifende Dialogfähigkeit des Bengalischen Architekten einem internationalen Publikum vor. Textbeiträge von Architekturschaffenden aus verschiedenen Kontinenten eröffnen facettenreiche Sichtweisen auf Islams Werk und ordnen es in den geschichtlichen Kontext und in aktuelle Zusammenhänge ein.

Dieses Werk setzt die Grundfragen der Wissenschaft vom Kal¿m im Lichte der Gegenwart neu an. Aus dem Geist klassischer Positionen der Islamischen Theologie werden die drei systematischen Knotenpunkte - Glaubensfrage, Gottesfrage und Offenbarungsfrage - neu begründet. Dabei geht es um die Bedingungen theologischer Rationalität, um erkenntnistheoretische Klärungen des Glaubensvollzugs und um die ästhetische Dimension von Wahrheit, insbesondere im Horizont der koranischen Rede. So entsteht eine systematische Relektüre, die Tradition nicht wiederholt, sondern aktualisiert.

Der Islam vertritt als Offenbarungsreligion den Standpunkt der absoluten Einheit Gottes. Wie wird aber theologisch nach diesem Einen gefragt? Worin besteht die Unbedingtheit Gottes in Relation zum Bedingten? Und warum erschafft Gott überhaupt etwas? Die Systematik der genuin islamischen Theologie fordert in diesem Zusammenhang mit dem Glauben zu beginnen. Doch die Frage ist, wie der Glaube verfasst ist und wie seine Inhalte generiert sind. Was tun wir, wenn wir glauben? In welchem Verhältnis stehen der Verstand und der Glaube zueinander? Und vor allem: Wie ist Offenbarung möglich? Der Koran als Offenbarung beansprucht nämlich Wahrheit; eine Wahrheit, die aber ästhetisch vermittelt ist. In welcher Relation stehen indes Wahrheit und Schönheit des Korans zueinander? Offenbarung ist stets Vermittlung; doch wie lassen sich Transzendenz und Existenz zusammendenken? Grundlegend also: Worin besteht der Standpunkt der systematisch-islamischen Theologie?
