Women Leaders in Higher Education

An Integrative Leadership Development Model

This book offers an in-depth exploration of the lived experiences of 24 women presidents of colleges and universities in the northeastern United States. Building on Madsen’s (2008) seminal work, the authors interpret these women’s leadership trajectories and practices through lenses of organizational behavior, leadership, psychology, and evolving societal context, introducing the Women’s Integrative Leadership Development (WILD) model. Ultimately, the book distills shared elements of women’s leadership into a valuable resource for scholars and practitioners in management, career development, HRD/HRM, and organizational behavior, addressing the scarcity of validated leadership development models for women.
