This book provides a comprehensive perspective by taking an interdisciplinary approach to issues of attaining SDGs in India. It starts with policy priorities and opportunities for interlinking of different SDGs with sustainable industrial transformation. Subsequently, various chapters present a blend of analytical methods that are primarily rooted in economics and yet have an inter-disciplinary approach, highlighting pathways towards achieving SDGs, especially SDG1, SDG2, SDG3, SDG4, SDG10, SDG11, SDG13, and SDG15. Gender equality and empowerment of women is a common cross-cutting issue across all three themes towards achieving SDG targets. Chapters are divided into three themes climate change, health and nutrition, and poverty and inequality, with a special chapter devoted to each theme providing the overall picture. The book’s content is a great resource for students, researchers, policymakers, and development practitioners studying these SDGs related to India as the country moves forward on its growth path.

What goals are still feasible for the politics of emancipation on a ruined planet? This is where we are. Today's techno-oligarchs are not concerned with saving the planet; rather, they have accepted the end of progress and are focused on safeguarding their wealth in the face of an impending political and ecological collapse. Artificial intelligence and algorithms make decisions for us. Climate breakdown has long steamed past the wreckage of the Paris Agreement. Perhaps the accelerationists have the right idea. Accelerationism - which aims to resolve the current crisis through the intensification of technological development - is the only philosophy not clinging to the now-extinct idea of progress. The idea has gained ground on both the left and right: but the right-wing is shot through with misanthropy, while the left remains entangled in a faith in technological progress and the domination of nature. Transcending capitalism at the end of progress requires a synthesis of the two. The result of this synthesis: Dark Socialism. Hart Studies in Constitutional Theory

This book challenges the near-universal acceptance of a US-style, Western constitutional paradigm as the best basis for comparative constitutional studies. It does so on three main grounds: anachronism, 'othering' and cultural specificity. Main pillars of 'convergent constitutional theory' are rooted in the revolutionary, late-eighteenth century - a lost world; constitutional arrangements that deviate from the paradigm are often branded as 'outliers' or even as not constitutional at all; and the foundations of the paradigm in liberal democracy give no space for other forms of constitutionalism. Whatever the attractions of convergent theory as a normative ideal of good government, for the purposes of understanding, analysing and explaining constitutional systems it is far from ideal. This book discusses and questions: convergent theory's weddedness to writing as the technology of constitution-making; its image of a constitution as fundamental law; its idea that a constitution expresses the 'sovereignty of the people'; its use of tripartite separation of powers as the basic principle of institutional design; its relative neglect of administrative law; its association of 'rights' with judicially enforceable bills of rights; and its obsession with a vaguely specified concept of 'democracy'. It makes suggestions for alternative, preferable methods of understanding, analysing and explaining constitutions, and governmental and constitutional systems.
