Curriculum Development in Mathematics Education

Drawing on over a decade and a half of first-hand experience, leading legal scholar and feminist activist Marilyn Kamuru documents the important role African feminist organizing plays in defining and defending gender-equality policy in Kenya and beyond. Focusing on how constitutionally mandated gender quotas in Kenya's parliament are repeatedly violated by government failures, or outright refusals, to implement them, Kamuru brings out how Kenya's feminist activists--during the drafting of the 2010 constitution and in the years since--fight gender inequality in ways that go more to the heart of the problem than any conventional approach. Kenyan feminists, Kamuru argues, are unique in that they address not only the underrepresentation of women in politics, but also the overrepresentation of men. This distinct framing of the issue, now enshrined in the highly progressive 2010 constitution thanks to their efforts, poses a real threat to male dominance in government, and this is what accounts for its obstinate non-implementation. Kamuru's findings highlight the important questions that African feminism poses to global efforts towards gender equality. How do quotas really impact gender equity? How are they used to limit debates about it? What does the dominance of typical WROs and INGOs in all areas of gender policy say about their own roles in inscribing such limits? And what alternatives are African feminist movements such as WeAre52pc and EndFemicide offering?

Warum gibt es keine verpflichtenden Regelungen, die für ein ausgeglichenes Verhältnis von Frauen und Männern in deutschen Parlamenten sorgen? Thüringen und Brandenburg hatten sie eingeführt. Die Landesverfassungsgerichte kippten die Beschlüsse 2020 wieder. Dabei öffnet das Grundgesetz der Bundesrepublik Deutschland einer verpflichtenden Parität in allen Parlamenten eigentlich Tür und Tor. Es regelt in Art. 3 Abs. 2, dass der Staat zur Verwirklichung der tatsächlichen Gleichstellung von Frauen und Männern in allen Rechts- und Lebensbereichen verpflichtet ist und bestehende Nachteile beseitigen muss. Für viele Juristinnen und Juristen sowie Politikerinnen und Politiker ergibt sich hieraus die Verpflichtung des Gesetzgebers, für eine Erhöhung des Frauenanteils in den Parlamenten zu sorgen. Seit einigen Jahren erreichen erste Klagen die Verfassungsgerichte - bislang noch ohne Erfolg. 
Die erfahrene Gutachterin und Klägerin im juristischen Ringen um ein Paritätsgesetz, Prof. Dr. Silke R. Laskowski, erklärt in dieser Studie, warum ein paritätisches Wahlgesetz auf der Grundlage von Art. 3 Abs. 2 S. 1 und S. 2 GG in Verbindung mit dem Demokratiegebot in Art. 20 GG nicht nur verfassungsrechtlich zulässig, sondern zur Stabilisierung und Weiterentwicklung der Demokratie auch 'geboten' und 'zwingend erforderlich' ist. Rechtsvergleichend richtet sie den Blick auch auf Europa. Sie ermutigt den Gesetzgeber, im Rahmen der aktuellen Wahlrechtsreform auch die Parität zu verankern.

The book develops a critical queer perspective, analysing how sexual and gender minorities moved from being classified through the figure of the criminal ‘homosexual’ to being recognised as members of LGBTIQ communities with a status of almost legal equality. Structured historically, its chapters examine distinct phases of legal reform, governance and LGBTIQ activism. The book covers key issues in sexuality, gender, family, embodiment and sex classification, while offering an extended account of the legal questions affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people. Although focused on Australia, it speaks to wider debates across post-colonial jurisdictions, Commonwealth countries and the United States. The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind (French: Psychologie des Foules; literally: Psychology of Crowds) is a book authored by Gustave Le Bon that was first published in 1895.

In the book, Le Bon claims that there are several characteristics of crowd psychology: "impulsiveness, irritability, incapacity to reason, the absence of judgement of the critical spirit, the exaggeration of sentiments, and others. Le Bon claimed that "an individual immersed for some length of time in a crowd soon finds himself - either in consequence of magnetic influence given out by the crowd or from some other cause of which we are ignorant - in a special state, which much resembles the state of fascination in which the hypnotized individual finds himself in the hands of the hypnotizer.
