Transforming Environmental Politics and Policy

Debating Planetary Politics offers a range of perspectives that together provide a comprehensive overview of the issues and ideas central to the emerging field of planetary politics, giving due attention to its history, while primarily and uniquely advancing the contemporary state of the debate.An eco-centric planetary politics first became a prospective new turn for the world politics of humanity when scientists around 1970 discovered that the Earth system, including its biospheric ecology, exists in a biogeochemical composition which enables and furthers the conditions for life on this planet, and that our species is causing an Earth system crisis that is jeopardizing planetary habitability. This book examines how to best navigate through this Earth system crisis and expands on what planetary politics is about by including multispecies and critical perspectives that were not prominent before. It is argued that the current global governance architecture is inadequate for ending the crisis. We will need a new planetary politics. But what do we have in mind when we talk about planetary politics? This complex inter- and transdisciplinary debate does not only require a sound grasp of the relevant Earth system science, but also of the cultural, social, economic, and political worldviews and practices that have brought about the present malaise, and of how old and new alternatives might enable constructive steps forward. This book therefore has a diverse group of expert contributors. They offer a variety of complementary and competing theoretical perspectives from Political Science, Political Theory, Political Economy, International Relations, Philosophy, and Sociology, getting to the core of what thinking in terms of planetary politics signifies in different registers.Establishing planetary politics as its own distinct field, Debating Planetary Politics is important reading for students and scholars from a range of disciplines, including Global Environmental Politics, Political Science, International Relations (IR), Political Theory/Philosophy, Development Studies, Political Economy, Earth System Science, Environmental Humanities, Global/Intellectual History, Political Geography, Political Sociology, and Science and Technology Studies (STS).

Debating Planetary Politics

The TV and Movie industries created the Italian American stereotypes we know today. 
These stereotypes don't reflect the extraordinary impacts of Italian American individuals of all ages and economic backgrounds on the cultural and economic advancement of the United States to address this, the Italian American Reputation Lab (IARL) is presenting an analytic report on how the historical and current Italian diaspora depict a very different narrative than the mainstream media of how Italian-Americans have contributed to shaping the cultural and economic fabric of the United States.

Davide Ippolito is one of the foremost international experts on Reputation Literacy, Reputation Management, and Contents Creation. He's a publisher, a filmmaker, and a producer of both feature films and documentaries which are available on Amazon Prime and Pluto. Founder of the streaming media platform Business+, he serves as the Chief Scientific Officer for the USA-based Italian American Reputation Lab (IARL). For a decade Ippolito consulted with prominent Italian organizations and media/TV outlets operating in the diplomatic, academic, and industrial sectors. In recent years he has been engaged by international and US entities such as the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), the Columbus Foundation, and the United Nations. Davide has authored several books on the Reputation Management topic and on September 12th, 2023, he released his new docu-film "New York Solo Andata" at the Italian Cultural Center of New York City. Davide regularly writes for several Italian magazines and newspapers, and he participates in various Italian national television news programs and talk shows.

Against Stereotypes - The Real Reputation of Italian American

This book tackles the widespread problem of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Nigerian tertiary institutions through a proactive, stakeholder-collaborated intervention that connects research, policy, and practice. Drawing on a national study called Acting Together, this book intentionally closes the gap from diagnosis to durable systems change. The project used a sequential mixed-methods design that involved large-scale quantitative surveying followed by focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and in-depth Interviews to anchor statistical trends in lived experience and institutional narratives. Unlike similar projects that focus on prevalence statistics and isolated interventions, this project foregrounds the systemic drivers of SGBV, ranging from personal, structural, and environmental factors, and then translates findings into multi-level actions. By engaging students, management, academic and non-academic staff, regulatory bodies, law enforcement, civil society, and community actors, the project demonstrates how coordinated stakeholder synergy amplifies impact. It further documents patterns of perpetration, institutional responses, and survivors’ pathways to care, enabling interventions that address how SGBV is experienced on campuses.Oluyemisi Oluremi Obilade
 is Professor of Adult Education and Women's Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She is former Vice Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education and a former Commissioner for Education in Osun State, Nigeria.
 Lanre Ikuteyijo
 is Professor of Criminology, Migration, and Security Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria.&nbsp;His research interests span gender-based violence, participatory policing, irregular migration, and transitional justice.
 Akanni&nbsp;Akinyemi 
 is Professor with over two decades of professional experience leading demographic research and analysis, including political economy analysis, in Africa. He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Development), Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria.
 Olutoyin Mejiuni
 is an independent feminist scholar and an activist for social justice. She is retired Professor of Adult Education and Women's Studies in the Department of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning. She was a consulting editor for three professional journals in North America and was the National Editor of the Nigerian National Council for Adult Education (NNCAE).

The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind (French: Psychologie des Foules; literally: Psychology of Crowds) is a book authored by Gustave Le Bon that was first published in 1895.

In the book, Le Bon claims that there are several characteristics of crowd psychology: "impulsiveness, irritability, incapacity to reason, the absence of judgement of the critical spirit, the exaggeration of sentiments, and others. Le Bon claimed that "an individual immersed for some length of time in a crowd soon finds himself - either in consequence of magnetic influence given out by the crowd or from some other cause of which we are ignorant - in a special state, which much resembles the state of fascination in which the hypnotized individual finds himself in the hands of the hypnotizer.

In Dirty Dragging, Evelyn Annuß reformulates queer theorizations of drag, exploring the ambivalence of transgressive performances under apartheid, Nazism, and Jim Crow through a transoceanic lens. Taking up the ambivalence of "dirty" performance modes spanning drag and carnival to propaganda, she extends readings of gender bending by incorporating perspectives on blackface and "racialized drag." She thereby explores violent, locally specific mobilizations of the transgressive along with the ways in which queer and creolized forms of performance intertwine to oppose identitarian boundaries. Given the current slide into right-wing authoritarianism, the book thus gestures toward the potential joy of collectively making societal conditions dance.

Warum gibt es keine verpflichtenden Regelungen, die für ein ausgeglichenes Verhältnis von Frauen und Männern in deutschen Parlamenten sorgen? Thüringen und Brandenburg hatten sie eingeführt. Die Landesverfassungsgerichte kippten die Beschlüsse 2020 wieder. Dabei öffnet das Grundgesetz der Bundesrepublik Deutschland einer verpflichtenden Parität in allen Parlamenten eigentlich Tür und Tor. Es regelt in Art. 3 Abs. 2, dass der Staat zur Verwirklichung der tatsächlichen Gleichstellung von Frauen und Männern in allen Rechts- und Lebensbereichen verpflichtet ist und bestehende Nachteile beseitigen muss. Für viele Juristinnen und Juristen sowie Politikerinnen und Politiker ergibt sich hieraus die Verpflichtung des Gesetzgebers, für eine Erhöhung des Frauenanteils in den Parlamenten zu sorgen. Seit einigen Jahren erreichen erste Klagen die Verfassungsgerichte - bislang noch ohne Erfolg. 
Die erfahrene Gutachterin und Klägerin im juristischen Ringen um ein Paritätsgesetz, Prof. Dr. Silke R. Laskowski, erklärt in dieser Studie, warum ein paritätisches Wahlgesetz auf der Grundlage von Art. 3 Abs. 2 S. 1 und S. 2 GG in Verbindung mit dem Demokratiegebot in Art. 20 GG nicht nur verfassungsrechtlich zulässig, sondern zur Stabilisierung und Weiterentwicklung der Demokratie auch 'geboten' und 'zwingend erforderlich' ist.
