Shifting Perspective

Becoming a Systems Thinker

There is much talk of taking a 'system change' approach to solving complex problems. This is called Systems Thinking. But what does this really mean? How do you shift your perspective to become a Systems Thinker. Drawing on my own experience, my book takes you through the steps to becoming a Systems Thinker. I help you understand your own and the prevailing ways of seeing the world and the effect of these on how you act. I introduce you to the characteristics of complex systems. I offer my take on what Systems Thinking is, the perspective you need to find solutions in our uncertain and complex world. I suggest how the systems perspective will help you see complex issues differently, how it will make leadership and decision-making more effective. Finally, I offer approaches and tools to find solutions to 'edgy' and knotty complex problems.
