'Scenicruiser' GX-1

The Story of Greyhound's First Scenicruiser Prototype

Based on Paul von Fange's monumental book, Scenicruising: The Greyhound Scenicruiser Story, this book focuses on Greyhound's first post-war attempt in 1948 at a larger capacity highway cruiser called GX-1. A true two-level coach, designed by Orville Caesar and Raymond Loewy, it seated 50 passengers in 3 compartments. Its innovations included twin 6-cylinder air-cooled Franklin aircraft engines coupled together and an air suspension system. Sadly, it only lasted a year!
