On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the death of the theologian Otto Piper (1891-1982), a conference was held in Hannover in spring 2022, the results of which are documented in this anthology. Piper was considered one of the few Protestant intellectuals who vehemently defended the democratic Weimar Republic.
