Master's Thesis from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, University of Zambia, language: English, abstract: This study explores and examines the influence of Entrepreneurial Alertness (EA) on Small to Medium Enterprises (SME) performance within the Central Business District (CBD) of Lusaka. The study participants included 152 entrepreneurs who own SMEs represented by 44.7% females and 55.3% males. The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence that the EA construct has on SME performance, the association between the first order latent constructs, and to determine which roles of EA in venture performance were appropriate to the participants. A cross-sectional survey was created using Qualtrics online survey software and sent through email and what’s app to SME’s whose contact details were provided by the Zambia Development Agency. The construct of EA was examined using a 13-point scale. Descriptive statistics were conducted in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed in Amos SPSS to verify the factor structure of the observed variables and to ascertain the validity, and reliability of the measuring instrument. The influence of EA on SME performance and association between the first-order latent variables with performance were tested using multivariate Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study found that the construct of EA has a positive and significant influence on SME performance. As regards the association between the first-order latent constructs (i.e., dimensions) and performance, this study demonstrated that only the evaluation and judgment latent construct (dimension) had a significant and positive association. Finally, the study determined that EA appears to be important when a company considers entering a foreign market as a strategy for market development, and EA has a direct impact on strategic change decisions and organizational performance. The study has implications for education, commerce, and industrial policymakers. Policy initiatives could influence training curriculum and capacity-building programs that promote EA to increase entrepreneurial opportunity identifications for increased national performance and contribution.

Transformation in Global Outsourcing

This book is intended to encourage aspiring and experienced entrepreneurs, give you confidence, and accompany you on your path to self-employment. We usually only hear the success stories. Going from rags to riches is usually not realistic these days. We rarely hear how eventful and sometimes very difficult and long the journey to get there can be. Each chapter contains an informal introduction and concrete neuropsychologically-based transfer activities for each phase of the self-employment process. I also want to break the myth of self-employment as a 24-hour job and suggest an alternative, mentally healthy path to your goal. At this point, I thank the “test entrepreneurs” very much for the feedback they provided very much. “Actually, we know it, but... The book is a reminder that in many situations we are actually up to the challenges.” Kolb painting business since 2004 “A great workbook with helpful tips for self-employment. Its peculiarity lies in the mindset. In addition to strategic knowledge, it's about how we can achieve our goals using neuro-psychological methods. This also includes allowing emotions and using them for the success process. I think that this attitude is essential if you want to be successful and in harmony with yourself. I recommend the book to every aspiring entrepreneur." Heidi Griesbaum, M.A. Prevention & Health Management Startup

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Law - Philosophy, History and Sociology of Law, grade: 100, Kenyatta University (City Campus), course: PSYCHOLOGY, language: English, abstract: White (2023) suggests that placing employees in departments that they best fit based on their behaviour will help an organization achieve its performance-based objectives. For instance, employees who do not possess team work traits can be moved to positions that do not require much engagement with others. Sev (2019) posits that a high job performance behaviour will result in achievement of organizational performance. He also points out that employees have different levels of efficiency and productivity. Some employees may exhibit hard work whereas others may show negative and non-cooperative behaviour such as absenteeism, negative acts, and narrow mindedness among others. These attitudes often result in contradicting performance at work. Syed et al., (2015) study on organizational commitment and five factor model of personality found that conscientious and openness to experience had a positive impact on affective commitment whereas neuroticism and extroversion had a negative correlation with normative commitment. Cubel et al., (2016) study on personality traits and productivity found that more neurotic employees performed worse, and that those who ranked higher in conscientiousness performed better. Bui (2017), points out that extraversion had no impact on job satisfaction. According to Delima (2019), there are five main personality traits that shape employee behaviour and in turn affect the relationship between these employees, customers, management and the general organizational job performance.
The attribution theory will be used to try to explain the link between the five personality traits and job performance. According to Main (2023), attribution theory refers to the way in which people justify behaviour by trying to pin it on a cause. Notably, attributing causes to events can have a great impact on a person’s motivation and self-esteem, which are also affected by an individual’s personality traits. Understanding this theory in an organizational setting can help make informed decisions regarding recruitment and assignment of tasks to different members of an organization. Similarly, the Gordon Allport theory suggests that each individual has a unique set of traits that are the building blocks of his or her personality. These traits can either be cardinal, central or secondary. Cardinal traits are dominant in a person’s entire life, are rare and are often associated with one’s creativity and success. [...]

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, FH OÖ Standort Steyr, language: English, abstract: This piece of scientific work aims to answer the following research questions. These questions were derived as the primary reasons for this thesis and were motivated due to the current global health and social crisis, the economic disruptions caused by it all over the world, the need to better understand the effects of it on businesses and the need to investigate the best ways to be able to better cope with future disruptions. Main question: How can export-oriented industrial SMEs build resilience in times of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond? Sub question 1: How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected the global economy in the context of international trade? Sub question 2: What have been the main challenges faced by B2B export-oriented SMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic? Owing to the new and emerging field of business research that the COVID-19 pandemic has created, research has been developing on the topic. Researchers have primarily concentrated on specific issues such as understanding the impacts of the pandemic on the supply chain, import and export flows and trade policies. Often lacking a practical-oriented application of findings for Managers and their organizations and a focus on the challenges faced by export-oriented Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to examine the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on international business operations and especially in Business to Business international sales and marketing focusing first and foremost on SMEs, and to provide a concise overview concerning the topic of international trade disruptions during the pandemic as well as strategies and better practices for responding to and mitigating these risks and threats.
