Rising sea levels, changing coastlines, increasing frequency of extreme weather events, and increased temperatures are among the most catastrophic events generated by climate change. All these factors threaten the regional and global community and present challenges to the policy framework. Specifically, vulnerable and marginalized populations are significantly impacted by these disasters. As these regions confront the complex effects of climate change, a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and sustainable approach is essential. This book offers an extensive examination of disasters, climate change, and sustainability issues with special reference to South Asia.


This edited volume offers new insightful knowledge to support policymakers and researchers to create a resilient future in South Asia, in the face of disasters, climate change, and sustainable development challenges. Neben seiner Hochschullaufbahn gründete Heindl mehrere Unternehmen im Technologie- und Energiebereich und patentierte ein Tsunami-Warnsystem – für das er den ICT-Preis der Europäischen Union erhielt. Im Jahr 2010 hat Eduard Heindl zudem einen neuartigen Energiespeicher erfunden. Seit 2023 betreibt er den erfolgreichen YouTube-Kanal Energiegespräch und hat in dieser Zeit über 100 Videos mit Interviews und Hintergrundinformationen veröffentlicht. Für einen Technologiekanal hat er beachtliche 36.000 Abonnenten und mehr als 27 Millionen Aufrufe. Zu den Gesprächspartnern gehört die Crème de la Crème der Experten aus Physik, Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz – darunter Hans-Werner Sinn, Christian Rieck, Gerd Ganteför, Hans-Otto Peitgen, Fritz Vahrenholt, Franz Alt, Gunter Dueck oder Georg Brasseur.

 , Volume 2 explores the ever-growing interest in European countries in consuming natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the beginning of a significant shift towards more environment-friendly energy resources. The book studies the national and inter-regional contexts concerning increasing import volumes of the European gas market (EGM) from Russia, Qatar, and Iran through the Gas-Troika Organization (GTO) between 2016 and 2022. 
 
 While the wider energy policies of GTO members in the EGM are discussed, the more specific questions the contributions to this edited volume delve into are: 
 <ul><li>How do the GTO members develop their interests and energy policies in the European environment?</li><li>How do the common interests and policies of the GTO members explain the framework of the organization in the EGM?</li><li>How is this organization perceived and assessed as a semi-coherent regional entity?</li></ul>
 In studying these questions, the book applies a theoretical framework incorporating social structuration as a new approach.
