Was kann künstlerisches Handeln in Krisenzeiten bewirken? Und welche Reflexionspotentiale und Perspektiven bietet die Musikwissenschaft zu Fragen des Klimawandels an? Die Beiträge dokumentieren Fallstudien und Forschungszugänge aus verschiedenen Disziplinen. Dabei wird die Diversität, aber auch die Dringlichkeit einer wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit musikbezogenen Aspekten vor dem Hintergrund von übergreifenden Krisentheorien deutlich. Empirisch, ethnografisch, historisch und systematisch zeichnen die Beiträger*innen die Relevanz derartiger Überlegungen für die musikalisch-künstlerische, aber auch wissenschaftliche Praxis nach - im Fokus stehen zum Beispiel die Felder Aktivismus, Pädagogik und Dramaturgie.

This book introduces resilience-based concepts and high reliability organization (HRO) principles—adapted from disruption-prone industries—to improve risk management for tail or extreme events in U.S. globally systemically important banks (G-SIBs). HROs thrive in volatile environments by prioritizing adaptability, vigilance, resilience, and safety. Given that both G-SIBs and disruption-prone companies operate in increasingly uncertain and complex settings, there is a shared need for risk management techniques centered on resilience engineering to anticipate and mitigate unexpected extreme events. While G-SIBs are "too big to fail" and provide valuable insights into resilience in high-stakes scenarios, these approaches can benefit banks of all sizes facing similar risks.
The book explores the social world of banking and management, emphasizing the subjective nature of risk as people interpret events differently. Through surveys, interviews, and case studies, the research identifies growing interest in non-predictive risk methods for bank resilience. It recommends supplementing existing quantitative risk models with a transdisciplinary approach focused on non-predictive HRO principles to help banks prevent and mitigate extreme risks. The study finds that current G-SIB risk methods rely heavily on quantitative models, which may create a false sense of security. Additionally, extreme events are increasingly compound and often driven by human behavior. The book targets scholars and professionals seeking advances in resilience engineering within banking.

Stanis¿aw Kowalkowski is professor at War Studies University, Warsaw, Poland. He is the author and co-author of 230 different scientific studies, including ‘Determinants and possibilities of counteracting the use of improvised explosive devices’; and has participated in 12 development projects, including project dedicated to ‘Improving the Safety and Protection of Soldiers on Missions Through Research and Development in Military Medical and Technical Areas’.
Marek Wrzosek is professor at War Studies University, Warsaw, Poland. His military, research and teaching career develops in the scope of military reconnaissance systems, information systems and particularly military and non-military threats assessment. He published numerous theoretical and practical works, participated in the international research projects. His most important works include

Danuta Kämierczak is associate professor at University of The National Education Commission, Krakow, Poland. Her scope of research includes security studies including human security, education management, disaster risk management. It is a commonality to claim that we are currently living in an epoch of global crises that may perpetuate emergencies, blurring the boundaries between normalcy and exceptionalism. These circumstances often lead to the declaration of special legal orders in which state interference may be much deeper and restrictions on fundamental rights and freedoms more severe than would be considered acceptable in normal times. This book presents a comparative study of emergency constitutional adjudication, as well as related theoretical issues. Focusing on methods of constitutional interpretation the book provides insight into the various national situations and the judicial practice of European courts. The volume contains 11 European country studies, prepared by internationally recognized scholars of emergency law and constitutional theory. Two further chapters examine the interpretative practice of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, while the final chapter presents the results of the comparison and delivers the theoretical conclusions of the research. COVID-19 had an enormous impact on society around the globe. By 5th March 2023, when the WHO officially declared the pandemic emergency over, societies affected by it had been profoundly changed. The COVID-19 pandemic not only had medical consequences, but also significant effects related to the mechanisms involved in its discursive construction as a phenomenon of wide significance in various social arenas. Reaching a highly polarized form, public debate on compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 constituted an essential component of mechanisms not only for stance-taking, for creating opportunities for self- and other-positioning, and for covering discursive positions, but also for subverting existing epistemic orders. This book explores discretionary decision-making in migration systems in Europe. It investigates how European law influences the existence, exercise and effects of discretion. Firstly, it argues that national lawmakers often regard discretionary decision-making as the most viable option to accommodate standards of European law in their national migration systems.
