Consequently, profit-driven organisations are unethical.”“The reasons for the newly elevated place of ethics in business thinking are many. Managers have seen the high costs that corporate scandals have exacted: heavy fines, disruption of the normal routine, low employee morale, increased turnover, difficulty in recruiting, internal fraud, and loss of public confidence in the reputation of the firm” (Clark &amp; Johnson 1995, p. 26). Therefore, why should an organisation intentionally act socially irresponsible or even unethically when managers seek to attain their goal of profit making as long as they are aware of these consequences? The purpose of this essay is to acknowledge a socially responsible approach to business. It aims to analyse the relationship between profit making on the one hand and both social responsibility and ethical behaviour on the other hand. It will also reveal that profit-driven organisations are not automatically unethical in nature.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2003 in the subject Business economics - Miscellaneous, grade: 3 (C), Vienna University of Economics and Business (Sociology), language: English, abstract: Ausgehend von einem internationalen Forschungsprojekt beschäftigt sich die Dissertation mit der Frage nach Rollen und Visionen österreichischer Stiftungen sowie deren Zukunftsperspektiven. Es wurden Änderungen vorgenommen, die speziell für Österreich gültig sind. Die vorliegende Arbeit bietet Einblick in die geschichtliche Entwicklung des österreichischen Stiftungssektors, behandelt die zwei Gesetzesgrundlagen ¿ BStFG und PSG, die die Stiftungslandschaft spalten ¿ und beschreibt das Feld heimischer Stiftungen sowohl mittels Charakterisierung und Klassifikation von Stiftungen als auch anhand konkreter Zahlen. 
Eine empirische Untersuchung, bei der Experten und Stiftungsvertreter befragt sowie schriftliche Unterlagen ausgewertet wurden, führte zur Ausarbeitung von 6 Fallstudien, anhand derer die Forschungsfragen aufgerollt und beantwortet werden. Die Diskussion basiert einerseits auf theoretischen Grundlagen von Wohlfahrtsstaat und NPO-Sektor allgemein, andererseits auf den Resultaten der Studien. Die Zukunft betreffende Aspekte wie das sich ändernde soziale und politische Umfeld, EU-Erweiterung sowie organisationsspezifische Faktoren werden erörtert.
Die Untersuchung hat zu einem neuen Rollenmodell österreichischer Stiftungen geführt. Am wichtigsten bei gemeinnützigen Institutionen sind Ergänzung der staatlichen Aktivitäten, Bewahrung künstlerischer oder kultureller Leistungen und die Förderung sowohl von Innovation als auch Pluralismus während Privatstiftungen mit rein eigennützigem Zweck vor allem ein Kapitalmarktinstrument darstellen. Betreffend die Zukunft sind keine grenzüberschreitenden Aktivitäten geplant, innerhalb Österreichs wird jedoch eine steigende Bedeutung von Stiftungen erwartet, da sich der Staat immer mehr aus seiner sozialen Verantwortung zurückzieht.

Document from the year 2005 in the subject Law - Philosophy, History and Sociology of Law, , language: English, abstract: This book illustrates that the international laws of war are founded on natural law as conceived in the Catholic Church's Moral Theology. In particular, it treats of the jus ad bellum strand of the international law as contained in the United Nations Charter. This aspect of international law spells out conditions for the legality of resort to interstate armed conflict or war. 
The second strand of international law, which this book addresses, is the jus in bello which deals with the right conduct and method of war. With this background, the book then explicates the nature and constituents of natural law from the standpoint of Catholic Moral Theology. 
The final part of the book then makes an analysis of the two forms of international law in the light of the understanding of natural law. In this way, it demonstrates that the source of the international regulations concerning recourse to use of armed force in interstate conflicts is actually the values contained in the natural law theory as understood by the Catholic Church.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2001 in the subject Law - Comparative Legal Systems, Comparative Law, grade: Sehr Gut, University of Vienna, language: English, abstract: This work intends to show how civil and political rights in Israel and the Occupied Territories are regulated, which normative standards and spiritual sources nourish them, and how written and unwritten principles are applied and interpreted by the Supreme Court of Israel in pursuance of its self-imposed duty to safeguard the individual's rights and freedoms.&#13;&#13;The legal system of Israel reflects unresolved conflicts, ambiguities of the state and difficulties connected with the process of nation-building as well as dilemmas concerning the ethnic and cultural identity of the population. From 1517 until 1917 Palestine was ruled by the Turks as part of the Ottoman Empire.&#13;&#13;In 1917 British troops conquered the territory and in 1922 the League of Nations granted to Great Britain the Mandate over Palestine.  Following the establishment of the state of Israel in Palestine on 14 May 1948  a large number of British mandatory legislation was absorbed  into Israel's legal system. This had  and still has far-reaching, restrictive implications for the areas of administrative law and the field of human rights and freedoms.&#13;&#13;The British mandatory legislation includes security legislation - such as the Defence (Emergency) Regulations, 1945  - which empowers military commanders as well as the entirely executive branch of the government to impose severe restrictions on fundamental rights and freedoms.&#13;&#13;Despite the enactment of two basic laws on human rights in 1992 many areas, such as personal freedom, freedom of speech and the right of association and assembly are  still regulated mainly by British colonial legislation that was never revoked after the establishment of the state of Israel.&#13;&#13;Since  1948 a permanent state of emergency is in force in Israel. This entitles the government  to apply the inherited British mandatory security legislation as well as the own, by the Israeli parliament enacted emergency regulations. &#13;&#13;Israel's legal system has been built upon the duality of secular and religious law - a concept that was inherited from the Ottoman Millet tradition, first by the British mandatory government and then by the state of Israel.&#13;&#13;This study also includes important laws and Supreme Court judgments concerning civil and political rights that relate directly or indirectly to the territories occupied by Israel in the course of the war in June 1967.&#13;
