What Can Be Learned from the Lehman  Brothers Case Through the Lens of Principal Agent and Stewardship Theory?

For most of the people it is inconceivable to live without this. Online shopping makes our live in many ways easier, but it has not only advantages. The Brick-and-mortar stores are also important in many ways. Pure-online-retailing gets popular more and more, so it is important for everybody to have some knowledge about it. 

Firstly, the online retailing is defined and introduced in general. Subsequently the evolution of the pure-online-retailing is characterized. After this the customer loyalty in pure-online-retailing got reviewed and accordingly the advantaged and disadvantages of pure-online-retailer are explained in comparison to the Brick-and-mortar-players. At the end this examination the results are analyzed in case of the Pure-online-retailer ABOUT YOU. 


Pure-Online-Retailing in Case of About You. Principles of International Retail Management

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2024 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 1,3, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Veranstaltung: Interaktion in der Beratung, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Vertrauen und Kommunikation stellen eine fundamentale Grundlage für erfolgreiche zwischenmenschliche und wirtschaftliche Interaktionen dar. Insbesondere in der Unternehmensberatung, wo eine asymmetrische Wissensverteilung zwischen Berater und Klient vorherrscht, wird Vertrauen zu einem essenziellen Erfolgsfaktor. Diese Arbeit untersucht die zentrale Bedeutung von Vertrauen und Kommunikation im Beratungskontext und analysiert deren wechselseitige Abhängigkeit anhand der fünf Axiome von Paul Watzlawick. 

Nach einer Einführung in die Rollenverteilung zwischen Berater und Klient sowie einer Abgrenzung der Unternehmensberatung zu anderen Beratungsformen erfolgt eine theoretische Auseinandersetzung mit den Begriffen Vertrauen und Kommunikation. Anschließend wird das Kommunikationsmodell von Watzlawick detailliert betrachtet und auf den Beratungsprozess angewendet. Dabei wird untersucht, inwiefern eine klare und effektive Kommunikation zur Vertrauensbildung beiträgt und welche Auswirkungen dies auf den Beratungserfolg hat. 

Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit bieten praxisnahe Schlussfolgerungen zur Optimierung der Berater-Klient-Interaktion und liefern wertvolle Erkenntnisse für die erfolgreiche Gestaltung von Beratungsprozessen.

Master's Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, University of Wuppertal (Schumpeter School of Business and Economics), course: Masterarbeit am Lehrstuhl Finanzwirtschaft und Corporate Governance, language: English, abstract: This empirical master’s thesis examines firms' deviation behavior from the German Corporate Governance Code (GCGC) between 2005 and 2015. It analyzes whether companies listed in the DAX comply with the GCGC to a greater extent than those in other indices and whether larger companies, measured by market capitalization, deviate less from the GCGC than smaller companies. Furthermore, the study explores whether ownership concentration is positively correlated with the number of deviations and whether family firms deviate more than non-family firms. It also investigates whether companies led by family members show greater deviations than those led by non-family members and whether company performance is negatively correlated with deviations from the GCGC. Additionally, the thesis examines whether companies of certain industry affiliations deviate more than others, whether stock corporations (“AG”) exhibit a higher compliance rate than companies of other legal forms, and whether corporate complexity is negatively correlated with deviations from the GCGC.

The empirical analysis also presents specific standards of the GCGC, which showed the highest deviations by the listed companies. After each standard, a possible explanation for the companies' deviations is presented by the author. 

Before the empirical analysis is conducted, the development of corporate governance in Germany is presented in general.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2025 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 2.00, , Veranstaltung: Management, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Werbekampagne „Shop like a billionaire“ des chinesischen E-Commerce-Unternehmens Temu hat weltweit Aufmerksamkeit erregt und stellt den europäischen Binnenmarkt vor erhebliche Herausforderungen. Temus Geschäftsmodell basiert auf extrem günstigen Preisen, direktem Handel mit chinesischen Lieferanten und schnellen Lieferungen, wodurch das Unternehmen rasant wächst. Die Plattform verzeichnet hohe Verkaufszahlen, birgt jedoch Risiken für Nachhaltigkeit, Sozialstandards und Datenschutz.

Besonders problematisch sind die Umweltbelastung durch den hohen Versandaufwand, potenzielle Verstöße gegen das EU-Arbeitsrecht sowie mögliche Rechtsbrüche im Rahmen des Digital Service Act (DSA). Die EU-Kommission hat daher eine Untersuchung zu Temus Praktiken eingeleitet. Gleichzeitig verdeutlicht der Vergleich mit Maßnahmen gegen ähnliche Unternehmen wie Wish und SHEIN in den USA und Frankreich, dass bestehende EU-Regulierungen nicht ausreichen, um Temus Geschäftsmodell wirksam einzudämmen.

Diese Arbeit analysiert die Auswirkungen von Temus Marktdurchdringung auf den europäischen Binnenmarkt, identifiziert zentrale Herausforderungen und entwickelt Lösungsansätze zur besseren Regulierung. Ziel ist es, durch den Vergleich internationaler Maßnahmen neue EU-Strategien abzuleiten, um problematische Geschäftspraktiken effektiver zu kontrollieren.

Critical Criminological Perspectives

&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Mental Health, Crime and Justice&lt;/em&gt; brings together original and state of the art contributions from theoretical, empirical, and policy-related scholarship concerned with the ways people with mental health illnesses are understood, ‘managed’, ‘controlled’ and responded to. Drawing on critical scholarship from a variety of disciplines, the collection pays careful attention to the controversial relationship between mental health and crime, as well as key issues relating to justice and social harm. It presents a synthesis of discipline-specific approaches, from law, psychiatry, sociology, and criminology, but will also bridge together developments in both theory and practice.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The book explores the relationship between mental health and crime by deconstructing and analysing two important facets of the justice system: (1) the various ways in which people with mental disorder navigate and are navigated through the criminal justice (and forensic mental health) system(s); and (2) how so called ‘problematised populations’ are governed, with a particular emphasis on mental health as an unfolding dimension of social harm.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Unique to this volume, well-rehearsed debates are cross-examined with contemporary critiques about social harm and justice. By considering the multifaceted dimensions of violence to include ‘gendered’, ‘structural’, and ‘systemic’, this book provides a nuanced insight that exposes the controversial relationship that is said to exist between mental health and crime. The collection seeks to highlight the harm and injustice that people with mental health disorders are subject to when interacting with the criminal justice system.&lt;/p&gt;

AKAD Fachhochschule Stuttgart (Business Administration), Veranstaltung: UFU50 - Unternehmensplanspiel, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, ein umfassendes Verständnis der Jahresabschlussanalyse zu erlangen, einschließlich der prinzipiellen Vorgehensweise sowie der gängigen Kennzahlen. Anhand der festgestellten Kennzahlen wird eine Jahresabschlussanalyse für das Planspielunternehmen durchgeführt, um die wirtschaftliche Lage des Planspielunternehmens zu ermitteln und daraus Empfehlungen zur Verbesserung der Situation für die Zukunft abzuleiten. 
Ausgehend von der Zielsetzung der Arbeit wird im zweiten Teil die Theorie der Jahresabschlussanalyse erläutert und gängige Kennzahlen vorgestellt. Im dritten Teil wird der Jahresabschluss des Planspielunternehmens anhand ausgewählter Kennzahlen analysiert, die Ergebnisse der Analyse interpretiert und darauf aufbauend Empfehlungen abgeleitet.

Um das gesetzte Ziel zu erreichen, wird zunächst erläutert, was unter Geschäftsmodellen zu verstehen ist und wie sie anhand der Business Model Canvas entwickelt, visualisiert und analysiert werden können. Im nächsten Schritt erfolgt die Definition von Business Intelligence sowie die Vorstellung verschiedener Konzepte (OLAP &amp; Data Mining) und Instrumente dieses umfassenden Bereiches. In der darauffolgenden Zusammenfassung werden die wesentlichen Erkenntnisse subsummiert, sowie die Forschungsfrage abgeleitet. Aufbauend auf die Theorie, umfasst Kapitel drei den Anwendungsteil, der zuerst das Geschäftsmodell der Urbery GmbH anhand der zuvor erläuterten Business Modell Canvas identifiziert. Anschließend werden die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten der Business-Intelligence-Verfahren im Kontext zu Urbery dargelegt.

This strategic challenge necessitates a comprehensive and adaptive response to ensure compliance, maintain Alibaba’s market dominance, and uphold its reputation.
The regulatory landscape in China has evolved significantly, with new laws such as the Anti-Monopoly Law (AML) and Data Security Law directly impacting Alibaba’s operations. Authorities have imposed substantial fines and restrictions, requiring the company to reassess its business strategies. Ensuring compliance with these evolving regulations is critical to maintaining trust among stakeholders, avoiding financial penalties, and securing long-term sustainability.
In response to these challenges, Alibaba’s strategic plan focuses on reinforcing its internal regulatory frameworks, restructuring financial services, and ensuring fair competition on its platforms. Transparent communication with investors, employees, and customers is a key priority to maintain confidence and trust in the company’s future. Ethical considerations also play a crucial role, with an emphasis on strengthening data protection policies, fostering responsible restructuring practices, and maintaining high ethical standards across its operations.
Despite these efforts, the strategic plan acknowledges potential limitations, including the dynamic nature of regulatory changes, complexities arising from Alibaba’s global operations, and the risk of stifling innovation due to increased compliance requirements. Addressing these concerns requires a flexible regulatory strategy, a balanced approach to maintaining Alibaba’s innovative corporate culture, and continuous engagement with regulatory authorities to adapt to new requirements.
Ultimately, Alibaba’s ability to integrate compliance measures within its corporate structure while preserving its entrepreneurial agility will be critical in navigating regulatory challenges and sustaining its leadership in China’s digital economy.
