'From Justus Möser to Edgar Salin. The History of German Politico-Economic Thought from the Japanese Perspective': The latest volume 'From Justus Möser to Edgar Salin' brings together ten studies from the past 20 years, some of which have been extensively revised since their initial publication. The author analyzes early German political-economic ideas, such as J. Möser's non-radical Enlightenment, J. F. E. Lotz's social theory of use value, and F. List's protectionist industrialism and quasi-expansionist world politics, and discusses the perspectives of Japanese social scientists Y. Deguchi, K. Miyamoto, and N. Kobayashi on these ideas. He further argues for developments in the 'historical method' established by G. Schmoller as advanced by W. Sombart, E. Salin, and A. Spiethoff, and reveals a modified interpretation of Salin's 'visual theory' as applied by Z. Takashima in Japan during the war years.
