This is a story of how a coach pulled nine teenage girls forward - some from nothing, others from promise - and of how war later crushed everything they built. Part 1 - 1980s, Soviet Ukraine A girls' rowing team trains to win. They push harder. Dream bigger. And they are watched. Always watched. Their coach is young, ambitious... and an officer of the Soviet secret police-the KGB. He believes he understands control. He is wrong. Part 2 - 2022 They are no longer girls. They have families.
