</p><p><b>This book examines the constitutional treatment of national security in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. </b><br><br>These four states share their Commonwealth heritage and are members, alongside the USA, of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance. The book takes a comparative approach to the institutions through which, and tools with which, these four states seek to protect their national security against the threats of both terrorism and hostile state activity and how they have evolved over time. It identifies and examines the various specialised institutions, inside and outside of legislatures, which have grown up to oversee the exercise of public power for national security purposes while maintaining the required secrecy. It argues that the extent of the borrowing and sharing between these jurisdictions in the domain of national security, now and in the past, permits us to talk about a Commonwealth model of national security constitutionalism.</p><p></p>

This book was written by more than 90 authors from 26 countries, bringing diverse perspectives on global health partnerships' past, present, and future. Although many of the chapters use examples related to infectious diseases, the ideas in this book are relevant to the broader field of global health research and practice.

This book is organized into three sections, broadly related to foundational concepts, present experiences (case studies), and future visions.The first section focuses on the historical colonial legacy of global health and the foundations needed for equitable partnerships, introducing key themes explored throughout the book. These include concepts related to decolonization, ethics, gender, systems approaches and transdisciplinary science, Planetary Health, One Health, team science, and communication. The book's second section draws on case studies of global health partnerships to understand where we are today in global health. Authors share their experiences responding to global health threats, including disease outbreaks, refugee health, stigma, and sexually transmitted diseases, and post-disaster community recovery. The book's third section articulates a new vision for global health partnerships to co-create a more peaceful, equitable, and loving world. Thema dieses Lehrbuches sind Zustandekommen und Auswirkung wirtschaftspolitischer Entscheidungen. Der erste Teil stellt die allokationstheoretischen Grundlagen dar, die bei der Diskussion von Wirtschaftspolitik nützlich sind. Zunächst werden mögliche Zielsetzungen staatlicher Wirtschaftspolitik diskutiert. Anschließend wird hinterfragt, wo die Grenzen staatlichen Wirtschaftens gezogen werden sollten. Der zweite Teil beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, warum in einer Demokratie bestimmte wirtschaftspolitische Entscheidungen getroffen werden. Es werden grundlegende formale Modelle demokratischer Entscheidungsprozesse dargestellt. Ein besonderes Gewicht dieser politisch-ökonomischen Analyse liegt auf Theorien, die das Zustandekommen oder das Scheitern von Reformen untersuchen. Außerdem werden theoretische Modelle der politischen Einflussnahme von Interessengruppen vorgestellt. Im dritten Teil geht es um Anwendungen der polit-ökonomischen Grundmodelle auf wichtige wirtschaftspolitische Entscheidungen. Das Buch ist als eigenständige Grundlage für eine Einführung in die Wirtschaftspolitik in einem anspruchsvollen Bachelorstudium gedacht. Es kann aber auch in Verbindung mit der Lektüre weiterführender Literatur als ein Ausgangspunkt für einen Kurs im Masterstudium genutzt werden.</p>

This is the first book to present a new approach of institutional design as an evolutionary applied policy based on coherent conceptualization and methodology, and to study the actuality and implications of diversifying real/virtual community currencies. In contrast to a de facto standard theory, an institutional ecosystem can be composed of various institutions that continue to coexist with changing relative frequencies. In this view, diversified monetary institutions with local rules are feasible and realistic. Community currencies are worldwide attempts to redress such problems as financial instability, chronic stagnation, and decline of communities caused by globalization of the economy. Considering those alternative movements as a new type of policy, "evolutionist institutional design", this book clarifies the feasibility and significance of community currencies in the current era of globalization. The book also provides a better understanding than mainstream approaches of such platform institutions as money that determine fundamental means of cognition and action of interacting agents. Money is a symbolically generalized communication medium in the mesodomain that mediates between socioeconomic performance and patterns in the macrodomain and motives and cognitive frameworks in the microdomain. Conventional national systems of money and finance are platform institutions that determine basic replicators for a capitalistic market economy to evolve. In contrast, community currencies conveying both economic and social/cultural values are distinct platform institutions that are expected to endogenously change such basic replicators in outer and inner institutions for agents to a noncapitalistic market economy. These currencies are considered target institutions for "media design" in the framework of evolutionist institutional design.</p>
