Sustainable Human Development in Africa

The Role of Technologies, Frugal Innovations and Techno-Entrepreneurship

This book offers practical insights into the transformative role of digital technologies, frugal innovations, and technology entrepreneurship in achieving sustainable human development. By examining how these elements contribute to development-oriented policies, the book highlights their impact on productive activities, job creation, creativity, and the growth of micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises. It also emphasizes the importance of equitable economic growth, environmental regeneration, and empowerment through increased participation in decision-making.

Key issues explored include the integration of digital technologies in development strategies, the potential of frugal innovations to drive economic growth, and the role of technology entrepreneurship in fostering sustainable practices. The authors provide a comprehensive analysis by drawing on economic, political, and cultural lenses, offering readers a nuanced understanding of these complex dynamics.

The book aligns with and contributes to the targets of SDG 8: ‘Decent work and economic growth,’ and is ideal reading for graduate and postgraduate students, academic practitioners, and research professionals.
