'Studies on Roman Debtor Protection (favor debitoris)': The doctoral thesis seeks to answer fundamental questions about the largely unexplored Roman favouritism towards debtors, including the history of the term ¿favor debitoris¿ which cannot be found in ancient primary sources. In accordance with the historical meaning of the term, the author examines exegetically the permissibility of partial performances as proof of the protection of debtors in classical and late antique Roman law. The thesis then puts the ¿favor debitoris¿ into context with other ¿favores¿.
