Der nunmehr 8. Vechtaer Jugendliteraturpreis beweist sich in der Vielzahl der Zusendungen (über 400 Beiträge) und ihrer literarischen Qualität wieder als ein etablierter Wettbewerb für junge und jüngste Autor*innen zwischen 14 und 21 Jahren. Junge Menschen aus Österreich, der Schweiz, Mexiko und allen Teilen der Bundesrepublik haben Beiträge eingeschickt. Einige sind bereits das dritte oder vierte Mal dabei, nicht alle haben dabei den Sprung in das Buch und unter die Preisträger geschafft.
Das diesjährige Thema - Ende und Beginn - und wir sind mittendrin - wurde dabei von den Autor*innen sehr unterschiedlich behandelt. Im Verhältnis zum Vorjahr liegt das Schwergewicht der Einsendungen diesmal auf der Kurzprosa, ohne dass die Lyrik zu kurz kommt, wie auch die Preisverteilung zeigt. Inhaltlich ist von der Fantasy bis zur Kurzgeschichte, von der autobiografischen Kurzerzählung bis zum essayistischen Beitrag, dem Theaterstück und den verschiedenen lyrischrn Formen alles vertreten. 
Die Tendenz ist dabei eindeutig: Die Zweifel an einer gesellschaftlichen Zukunft werden immer größer, die Suche nach einem eigenen Platz zwischen Wohlstand, Krieg, Umweltkatastrophe und gesellschaftlichem Anforderungsstress immer schwieriger. Wunderbar drückt dies ein Protagonist in Helena Haselsteiners Beitrag aus: "Aber wenn er gewusst hätte, wie schnell die Zeit doch vorübergeht, er hätte aufgehört, sich so viele Sorgen zu machen, und mehr von der Hoffnung zugelassen, die dem Ganzen einen Sinn gibt. Das hat er zu spät verstanden, dass, was um einen herum passiert, so oder so passiert, das ist ein Wandel, der nicht aufzuhalten ist, und dass man sich darin fühlt wie in einem Strom, der einen den Bach entlang mitreißt, das ist auch normal, weil nach den scharfen Steinen, die einem am Weg die Haut blutig reißen, irgendwann ein stilles Gewässer kommt, in dem man sich gewogen fühlt wie in einer Badewanne."

Ende und Beginn - und wir sind mittendrin

"Wie kannst du vom Schreiben leben?" Skepsis dieser Art hören Dichterinnen und Dichter oft. Doch sollte die Frage nicht eher heißen: "Wie kannst du ohne Poesie leben?" Svenja Ohlsens Gedanken bilden einen poetischen Fluss, der durch die Landschaften des Alltags, der Natur und der inneren Welt strömt. Sie fängt den Funken des Augenblicks ein und beobachtet, wie er ein Feuerwerk entfacht. Die Gedichte schweben zwischen Reflexion und Hingabe. Sie tauchen ein in die verwirrenden, widersprüchlichen, aber auch leuchtenden Momente des Lebens und lassen sich von vermeintlichen Banalitäten wie Marzipanrobben oder einer Wetterdienst-App anstacheln, mit dem Echolot in die Tiefe zu fühlen.

Finanziell ist es natürlich schwierig

Schluss mit der Empörungslogik - wie wir unsere Demokratie verteidigen und Frustration in mutige Politik verwandelnDie Demokratie steht unter Druck - doch Rückzug ist für Rasha Nasr, die junge&nbsp;SPD-Bundestagsabgeordnete&nbsp;aus Dresden, keine Option. The Bureau forecasts that if current demographic trends continue, by 2040, approximately one in four Israeli Jews will be a Haredi. By 2065, four in ten Israeli Jews will be Haredim, leading to a Haredi majority by the end of the century.In recent years, Israeli Haredi society has been the subject of intensive public and scholarly attention that focused on the concept of "Israelization" and implied it is going through a profound, irreversible transformation that is bringing it closer to integration into the Zionist majority.Based on field studies and textual studies, this edited volume offers critical reflections on the "Israelization" narrative and explores the strategies and mechanisms that have enabled Haredi society to go through changes without changing at its core and to steadily and massively grow. Asylum Law and Practice

The selected letters of Walter Eucken from the years 1933 to 1945 shed light on previously unknown aspects of his biography and offer insights into a range of personal and academic relationships that were of great significance for the genesis of his work as well as for the formation and activities of the Freiburg School and the Freiburg Circle. The letters are an important source for the genesis of Eucken's two major works. They make it evident how and why, in the mid-1930s, he abandoned his plan to write a "Theoretical Economics" and instead focused entirely on the "Foundations of Economics." The letters also reveal how his work on the "Foundations" led him to the later, posthumously published "Principles of Economic Policy." For many questions concerning the history of ordoliberalism and Eucken's biography and works, the letters are the decisive source. They show his conduct during the processes of political conformity in 1933/34 and provide an impression of Eucken's assessment of the general political situation and of specific political events. In some draft letters, Eucken's criticism of Nazi policies becomes openly visible. Some letters hint at the threats he and his family faced under the Nazi regime and the depth of his engagement with the basic tenets of Nazi conceptions of science. The letters also make clear his reflections on religion and worldview and their relationship to science. The letters make it possible to trace Eucken's path toward his understanding of order and "ordo" as well as the relationship between freedom and order. It becomes evident that Eucken's and the ordoliberal school's essential conception of order and freedom was a direct result of their confrontation with National Socialism.

Constitutionalism in Asia

This book presents an in-depth interrogation of the theory and application of the Basic Structure Doctrine in the Federation of Malaysia. The Basic Structure Doctrine, famously introduced in the 1973 Indian Supreme decision of Kesavananda Bharati v State of Kerala AIR - which held that certain core or fundamental features in the Constitution of India could not be amended by Parliament even if it met all procedural requirements - was initially rejected when it was first argued in Malaysia in the 1975 case of Loh Kooi Choon v Government of Malaysia and lay dormant for the next three decades. Judicial winds shifted in 2010 when Malaysia's apex court, the Federal Court, cited Kesavananda with approval in the case of Sivarasa Rasiah v Badan Peguam Malaysia &amp; Anor, and observed that it was 'clear from the way in which the Federal Constitution is constructed that there are certain features that constitute its basic fabric' and that 'any statute (including one amending the Constitution) that offends the basic structure may be struck down as unconstitutional.' In a quick succession of cases, the Federal Court cemented this doctrine in Malaysia's jurisprudence and deployed it to defend the court's judicial power. These widely-publicised cases generated much debate beyond the legal fraternity and judiciary and often polarised different sectors of Malaysian society. This collection of essays responds to this extremely important debate on the limits of constitutional amendments as a form of constitution-making in Malaysia by considering the theory behind the Basic Structure Doctrine and critically examining how it has been harnessed by the Federal Court and by other political actors - most notably Islamists and secularists; and royalists and republicans - on the ground.

Mautner stellt die Arbeit der ksoe von ihrer Gründung bis zum Ende der bisher bestehenden ksoe mit dem sogenannten 'Relaunch' 2021 auf der Basis von Gesprächen mit Mitarbeiter:innen, Kooperationspartner:innen und Weggefährt:innen vor.
