Sebastian Wickeroth: Shapeshifting

The geometric form and its simultaneous disruption, destruction, and deformation are the starting point for Sebastian Wickeroth's art. The construction and deconstruction of form, the aesthetics of geometry and its overcoming, obvious formal rigor and its ironic break through anarchy and failure come together in his work. Wickeroth always develops his works from the perspective of sculpture. Created from everyday, ordinary materials, they reveal processes of transformation, connection, and dissolution. With a certain brutalism, Wickeroth thus challenges the formalistic principles of 20th-century art and brings punk and minimalism together in his art in a refreshing way.
