This book brings together leading experts on the United Kingdom's constitutional arrangements to show how the constitution works, the role played by actors, and the scope for reform. The experts are practitioners from the fields of law and politics, and include former judges, ministers and law officers, parliamentarians, a law commissioner, barristers, a former clerk of the House of Commons, Lord Speaker, First Minister of Wales, and the Prime Minster of New Zealand. Each contributor has been, or is, a constitutional actor and their chapter draws upon this unique first-hand experience. In addition to contributions on the UK Constitution, there are three comparative chapters that explore constitutional reform in Jamaica, and the constitutions of Denmark and New Zealand. The chapters explore issues and themes such as devolution, protecting standards in public life, breaches of political trust and the role of the law, House of Lords reform, the role of the law officers, the role of the Law Commission, the Supreme Court as a Constitutional Court, and the experiences of those working in Parliament. Title 40 presents regulations governing care of the environment from the 14 subchapters of Chapter I and from the provisions regarding the Council on Environmental Quality found in Chapter V. Programs addressing air, water, pesticides, radiation protection, and noise abatement are included. Practices for waste and toxic materials disposal and clean-up are also prescribed. This book integrates diversified disciplines, research approaches, and methodologies of area studies, regional economic development, and regional science. With its huge population, China has accomplished rapid economic growth since the 1990s, although the significant income gap among regions and individuals has become a serious problem for its society. China's accession to the WTO in 2001 has had various influences on the entire food system, from agriculture to consumers, through the food manufacturing and distribution industries. The changes in the Chinese food system are considered to have also affected the agriculture and food industries in Asian countries where economic interdependence has been promoted in past decades. The author argues these issues based on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary methods and approaches and has successfully derived empirical and theoretical results that are rich in policy implications.
