Bodies of Evidence disrupts popular understandings of the rape kit by examining it as a complex assemblage of practices and protocols that stands at the uneasy nexus of law and medicine. Jaimie Morse traces how this assemblage was championed as a rights project in medicine, moving from the margins to the center of health care responses to sexual violence through new clinical standards of care, first in the United States and then in global humanitarian medicine. Drawing on archival research, interviews with experts and activists, and fieldwork at international meetings, the book chronicles a novel process of legal mobilization in medicine and interrogates the existential meanings and stakes of rape kits, their associated practices, and their underlying assumptions and expectations for survivors of sexual violence.

This open access book examines the role played by international, regional, and national legal frameworks in holding corporations operating in the natural resource sector accountable for human rights violations in the Global South.

Influential scholars from across the world address pressing issues concerning the integration of business and human rights standards for better governance of natural resources. They focus particularly on extractive and multinational companies in the Global South and their role in the transition to net zero societies. The book also examines legal mechanisms for corporate accountability under international, human rights and transnational law, using case studies from selected countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The book reviews proposals for an enforceable legal framework to hold corporations accountable for human rights abuses and environmental damage. Accountability for a Just Transition

Business, Human Rights and Natural Resource Governance

Sexual violence in conflict, often referred to as conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), refers to some form of sexual and/or reproductive violence perpetrated against women, men, girls and boys that is directly or indirectly related to the conflict. This includes rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution, forced pregnancy, forced abortion, enforced sterilisation, forced marriage, and any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity. The perpetrators of CRSV vary between each case and include state and non-state armed groups, including terrorist organisations. This book examines some of the recent manifestations of sexual violence as atrocity crimes, and especially, prohibited acts to bring about genocide, the responses to these crimes, and issues that continue to be neglected, including in relation to the duty to prevent. The work structures the discussion around the prevalence of CRSV, its use as a tool of genocide, and other international crimes, and the failures of legal and institutional responses. By combining thematic chapters on international law and accountability with case studies, the study provides a balance between theoretical critique and empirical analysis. It further engages with the debates on what is needed to bring about change, looking at specific policy and law reforms. The work also examines the way forward, including recommendations to introduce an international convention specifically focused on CRSV, and a permanent mechanism on CRSV. The book will be of interest to academics, researchers and policy-makers working in the areas of International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights Law, Constitutional Law, Legal History, Security Studies and Genocide Studies.

Hiermit wird der sich gleichsam schrittweise vollziehende Ubergang von einem traditionell standischen oder gar furstlich-absolutistischen zu einem zumeist monarchisch-konstitutionellen System aufgearbeitet, dessen jaher Untergang schlielich in die nationalstaatlich-republikanisch gepragte demokratisch-parlamentarische Staatsform Weimars mundet. Mit dem Gesamtwerk steht dem Fachpublikum eine leicht zugangliche, bislang nicht gekannte Fulle von Dokumenten zur Verfugung, die fur die verfassungsrechtliche Entwicklung Deutschlands und seiner einzelnen Staaten von zentraler Bedeutung waren. Dabei wird groer Wert auf die authentische, d. h. buchstaben- und zeichengetreue Ubernahme der Texte gelegt. Dem jeweiligen Dokumententeil sind in jedem Band "Historische Einfuhrungen" vorangestellt. In diesem Rahmen werden an den einschlagigen Dokumenten orientierte (verfassungs-) rechtliche, zeitlich wie territorial ubergreifende entwicklungsgeschichtliche Darstellungen vorgenommen. In dem hier vorliegenden 3. Band werden erstmals uber 450 Verfassungsdokumente prasentiert, welche fur die verfassungsstaatliche Entwicklung des Groherzogtums Berg und des Herzogtums Braunschweig pragend waren.
