Preisdeterminanten des europäischen Emissionshandelssystems

Academic Paper from the year 2023 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, grade: A, , language: English, abstract: The topic of this essay is "Water Conservation Strategies and Their Impact". It comprehensively covers the current global priority of water conservation due to freshwater scarcity. There are sustainable strategies used in water conservation, potential solutions to water problems, and even the outcomes. Effective conservation strategies are both individual and collective efforts where the reduction of water usage can be done through fixtures, behavior changes, and reuse to contribute to conservation. There is a need to implement sustainable agricultural practices, promote water-efficient industries and invest in technologies that advocate water treatment and distribution. The potential solutions to water problems are inclusive of demand and supply side strategies. The supply side is the construction of water storage facilities and the implementation of rainwater harvesting methods and desalination processes. The demand side focuses on water management through pricing, water-efficient practices, and public awareness campaigns. Water conservation efforts have led to reduced water consumption, improved water quality, and increased resilience to droughts and climate impact changes.

Sustainable Water Conservation Strategies. A Global Priority

Scientific Essay from the year 2022 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, , language: English, abstract: This article aims to shed light on the importance of electric vehicles; their types, components, amount of CO2 emissions of electric cars; their sustainability, and eco-friendship. The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and ozone (O3). In absence of greenhouse gases, the average temperature of Earth's surface could be −18 °C (0 °F), rather than the present average of 15 °C (59 °F). But despite that greenhouse gas emission data changes because of the development of new sources and markets like the growing market for liquefied natural gas. Climate change combines global warming and its impacts on Earth's weather patterns, in which the main source is human-induced changes. The emission of greenhouse gases, mostly carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) caused climate changes. Burning fossil fuels for energy utilization creates most of these emissions. Also, agriculture, forest loss, cement production, and steelmaking are additional sources. According to the WHO, air pollution is a major environmental health risk that causes approximately two million premature deaths universally per year. Ozone, fine dust, SO2, and NO2 were found by WHO as being the most dangerous pollutants which are mainly, or to a substantial extent, traffic-derived, in which traffic is responsible for approximately half of the quantified costs in lives and health. Furthermore, toxic internal combustion engine vehicle emissions cause high health losses even in industrialized countries: almost 25% of the European Union population live adjacent to (less than 500 m) a traffic road carrying more than three million vehicles each year. Also, a report by the European Union stated that the transport sector is responsible for nearly 28% of the total CO2 emissions, whereas, road transport is accountable for over 70% of the transportation emissions. While in Germany, the German Federal Environment ministry (2010) stated that cars were responsible for 60% of all traffic-related CO2 emissions.

Master's Thesis from the year 2012 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, grade: Excellent, Ethiopian Civil Service University, language: English, abstract: This study is about the role of EAL in urban economy, the case of floriculture industry in Addis Ababa and its hinterlands. The main objective of the research is to evaluate the role of EAL in the economy of Addis Ababa and its hinterlands in the case of floriculture industry. It tries to see the role of EAL in employment creation, revenue generation, and in supporting the flower industry. In the study, descriptive and experimental types of research method were employed. Then, both probabilities (simple random sampling) and the non probability (purposive) sampling were used. Therefore, a total of 174 respondents were selected from employees of EAL, flower farms, logistic companies, and EHPEA to respond through a questionnaire and an interview. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS and the interpreted data were presented in tables, charts, graphs, and pictures. In this study, the researcher confirmed that “there is strong positive relationship between growths of the EAL and the growths of the Floriculture industries”. Furthermore, the different problems that affect the EAL from playing its role in the economy of Addis Ababa and its hinterlands through the floriculture industries were identified. The problems in the EAL side include: the space constraint in the cargo terminal of the EAL, for loading and unloading, for cold room, shortage of warehouse and aircraft, poor handling of flowers, and delay in departure. In order to solve the identified problems the following recommendations are forwarded: EAL is advised to widen the cargo terminal, prepare enough aircraft by buying or by renting from other airlines; the EAL is advised to allow other airlines to serve by their charter airplanes, encourage privatization in some activities like handling of perishables.

Essay from the year 2024 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, grade: A, , course: Economics, language: English, abstract: This essay delves into the concept of climate justice by examining the unequal burdens of climate change on vulnerable communities, particularly in the Global South. Using Bangladesh as a case study, it explores the moral, social, and environmental dilemmas posed by climate change. The essay emphasizes the urgent need for equitable global solutions to address these disparities.

The deadly cyclone that wreaked havoc on Bangladesh's low-lying coastal villages last monsoon season serves as a harsh reminder of climate change's unequal impact. Homes were swallowed up by the rushing sea, fertile plains swamped in seawater, and lives were broken by the severity of a storm exacerbated by global warming. Communities from the Global South, such as those in Bangladesh, are dealing with the immediate and terrible effects of a catastrophe that they had little control over, while the industrialized countries of the Global North keep emitting greenhouse gases as historic rates. The stark mismatch in who causes and suffers the most from the climate problem is highlighted by this discrepancy, which is at the core of climate injustice. All people are affected by the global phenomena of climate change, which can take many different forms and exacerbate already-existing disparities while also causing new ones. It is not merely an environmental concern; it is a fundamental moral and social dilemma that necessitates a fair and equitable response.

Seminar paper from the year 2022 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, grade: 1,0, University of applied sciences, Cologne, language: English, abstract: This thesis focuses on protectionism in the agribusiness sector of the European Union, its motivationsand its positive and negative effects and its global correlations. As we are living in a globalized world, economical decisions lead to complex effects all over the world. Often there are trade-offs. People suffering from malnutrition and hunger remains a big challenge. Worldwide the percentage of people living in absolute poverty has decreased continuously. Still action is required, especially regarding an increasing unequal distribution of resources and growth in the world due to globalization and trade. Disadvantages and effects caused by global trade, trade agreements and its negative effects caused by an unequal distribution of resources and growth in the world. Mainly caused by different circumstances and soil factors (different climate, soil, drought) the agribusiness sector is affected by.Basic conditions differ from country to country, this in turn means different basic possibilities for farmers and production of nutrition. As there is manifested a "Right of food", the agribusiness sector plays a key role as it is the basis for ensuring the nutrition of the world population. Trade agreements developed over years with different intentions, today this brings huge disadvantages to still developing countries which should not lose sight of.
