Dieses Buch analysiert die Schnittstelle Stadterneuerung/Klimawandel und zeigt, wie die Maßnahmen zum Klimaschutz und zur Klimaanpassung die Zielrichtung der Stadterneuerung beeinflussen. Der Klimawandel hat seinen Ursprung in der industriell überproportional auf Energieverbrauch orientierten nördlichen Hemisphäre und belastet damit schon seit geraumer Zeit den globalen Süden erheblich. Erst katastrophale Auswirkungen auf die Verursacher selbst wie Starkregenereignisse und Überschwemmungen oder lebensgefährliche Dürre und Trockenheit führen zu einem Umdenken in der Lebensweise. Dieses Umdenken greift dabei auch auf die Maßnahmen der Stadterneuerung über. Zugleich führen machtpolitische Auseinandersetzungen zu einer Stadtzerstörung von ungeheurem Ausmaß und bilden damit die Grundlage für den Wideraufbau zerstörter Städte und Landschaften als neuer globaler Aufgabe der Stadterneuerung. Vor dem Hintergrund dieses katastrophalen Bildes wirken die in dem Jahrbuch beschriebenen Maßnahmen und Ziele der insbesondere deutschen Stadterneuerung nicht einmal ansatzweise hinreichend. Dennoch ist die geleistete Darstellung von Projekten und ihre praktische Umsetzung in Realität von hoher Bedeutung für die künftige Stadterneuerung im Klimawandel.&nbsp; Das Jahrbuch Stadterneuerung 2025 gibt hierzu die wesentlichen Beiträge der wissenschaftlichen Tagung „Stadterneuerung im Klimawandel“ an der Universität Kassel wider. Damit definiert es zugleich die wissenschaftlich im breiten Umfeld der Stadterneuerung agierenden Personen und Institutionen als Zielgruppe der vorliegenden Publikation.
