"A comparative analysis of both formal and informal long-term care in ten of the world's wealthiest countries. Nations throughout the world are in the midst of an enormous demographic transition, with life expectancy increasing and fertility falling, leading to a rapidly aging population and critical implications for long-term care around the world. This volume documents and compares long-term care programs in ten wealthy countries. Analyses of survey data and government statistics show that the costs of long-term care are beyond the financial means of a large fraction of the elderly population in most countries, particularly the oldest and most disabled. As a result, public systems bear most of the cost of formal long-term care, such as care in an institution or paid home care. Most countries spend more on nursing homes than on home care, but this relationship varies widely as does the mix of care needs and resources used to define eligibility for public funding. At the same time, most care is provided informally through family or unpaid caregivers. The costs of informal care, including the foregone earnings of caregivers, are estimated to account for at least one-third of all long-term care spending in every country. Thus, any estimate of the social costs of long-term care must account for the implicit costs of informal care"--

The tools used to assess the protagonists' international competitiveness as part of the international analysis are introduced here as well. The third part deals with "Green Bonds" in particular. It consists of important general information and a widespread market overview. Section four comprises the international market and competitiveness analyses of the main market players: the EU, United States and China (with Hong Kong SAR). A future prospect for the Green Bond market, based on the outcomes of a brief "expert interview" the author distributed among professionals working in the financial world, is given in chapter five. To round off the thesis, the sixth and final chapter forms the conclusion that draws a bow back to the introduction.

The Market of Green Bonds. An International Analysis of Public and Private Issuers in the Green Bond Market

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 2,0, University of Hamburg, course: Seminar: Empirical Financial Economics, language: English, abstract: Therefore, the purpose of this work is to find out how cash holdings have developed over time and what company-specific factors influences them. In this context, we examine the period from 1988 to 2021, following closely the approach of Bates. The main question is whether the findings from the literature are transferable to Canadian companies or if there are differences.To address this question, we will first briefly review the literature for the theoretical background in chapter 2, which we will refer to in our later empirical analysis. In chapter 3, we outline the composition and origin of our dataset, as well as the methodology. Chapter 4 looks at the development of cash and leverage holdings over the whole period. Section 5 examines whether there are sub-population specific differences in our dataset. In chapter 6, we utilize regression models of the cash ratios to see which corporate indicators have an impact on the cash ratios. Section 7 considers whether the agency theory has an impact on cash holdings. We conclude in chapter 8.Cash holdings are one of the most important components of a company. As the cash holdings of U.S. companies have increased remarkably over the last decades, the question arises whether this is also true for the geographic neighboring country Canada. Therefore, this thesis analyzes the corporate cash holdings of Canadian public companies. While the cash holdings of U.S. companies are well studied on a broad scale in the finance literature  and Opler, there are only a few publications on Canada.

&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;How the problematic behavior of private citizens—and not just the police force itself—contributes to the perpetuation of police brutality and institutional racism&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;“Warning: Neighborhood Watch Program in Force. If I don’t call the police, my neighbor will!”&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Signs like this can be found affixed to telephone poles on streets throughout the US, warning trespassers that the community is an active participant in its own policing efforts. Thijs Jeursen calls this phenomenon, in which individuals take on the responsibility of defending themselves and share with the police the duty to mitigate everyday insecurity, “vigilant citizenship.”&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Drawing on eleven months of fieldwork in Miami and sharing the stories and experiences of police officers, private security guards, neighborhood watch groups, civil society organizations, and a broad range of residents and activists, Jeursen uses the lens of vigilant citizenship to extend the analysis of police brutality beyond police encounters, focusing on the often blurred boundaries between policing actors and policed citizens and highlighting the many ways in which policing produces and perpetuates inequality and injustice. As a central premise in everyday policing, vigilant citizenship frames racist and violent policing as matters of personal blame and individual guilt, ultimately downplaying the realities of how systemically race operates in policing and US society more broadly. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;i&gt;The Vigilant Citizen&lt;/i&gt; illustrates how a focus on individualized responsibility for security exacerbates and legitimizes existing inequalities, a situation that must be addressed to end institutionalized racism in politics and the justice system.&lt;/p&gt;

Everyday Policing and Insecurity in Miami

The plot of the book is about how the rule of law functions to protect corporate structures that facilitate the commission of globalized fraud and abuse. The rules of law are used to dilute and hide accountability of high managerial agents and controlling persons, performing as a tool in aid of centralized and concentrated capital interests, devouring and destabilizing small-to-medium-sized companies. The theories and concepts developed in the book chapters are explored then applied to a real case and controversy¿a mega-fraudulent bankruptcy in Argentina. In the zone of the world¿s largest grain manufacturing and exporting port complex, the VICENTIN SAIC default illustrates poignantly the premises of the book.



The book will be a good tool to illustrate to students how globalized financial capitalism may perform predation of other actors in a given domestic real economy; what are the origins and abuses of corporate law in the transnational context; what factors influence the economies of emergent countries in Latin America; and what should be the protective role of law. These concepts can be learned and applied in higher education and post-degree students through this study of allegations of mega-fraud arising from the VICENTIN complex of companies based in Argentina, including consideration of the role of Glencore Ltd.
