Krankheit um 1800

Philosophische, medizinische und psychologische Krankheitskonzepte im Kontext des Verhältnisses von Körper und Geist

The concept of illness played an important role in philosophical, medical and psychological discourse in Europe around 1800. One tenor is the idea of progress, which is theoretically seen as an increase in knowledge and practically in terms of new healing possibilities. A nomenclature of diseases also developed in this context. A new focus is placed on the relationship between body and mind. Above all, it becomes clear that the concepts of illness are interdisciplinary. This interdisciplinary connection is examined by renowned scientists in the contributions to this volume.
