Thèse de Master de l’année 2022 dans le domaine Economie politique - Etudes de cas, note: 16/20, Université du Burundi (Faculté des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion), langue: Français, résumé: Cette étude emploie la méthode des données de panel et utilise les estimations à données de panel dynamique en étudiant l’influence de la religion, l’éducation et la santé au développement économique en Afrique Subsaharienne sur la période allant de 1960 à 2015.Dans le domaine de la religion, l’étude emploie trois religions, à savoir le Christianisme, l’Islam et la religion indigène. Les résultats des estimations économétriques prouvent que toutes ces religions ne sont pas porteuses de progrès économique en Afrique Subsaharienne. Seule la religion indigène est favorable de manière directe au développement économique. Le Christianisme n’est favorable au développement économique que lorsque la population est éduquée et en meilleure santé. L’Islam est anti-croissance dans la région.Dans le domaine de l’éducation, trois niveaux d’éducation font objet d’analyse, à savoir l’éducation primaire, secondaire et supérieure. Les résultats prouvent qu’on peut avoir dans l’éducation une clé du progrès économique en Afrique Subsaharienne et surtout pour l’éducation supérieure, mais plus cette région devienne religieuse, moins sont les niveaux d'instruction et leur contribution au progrès économique.Dans le domaine de la santé, l’espérance de vie est retenue comme proxy de l’état sanitaire et les résultats prouvent que le meilleur état sanitaire de la population d’Afrique Subsaharienne peut être le moteur du développement économique dans la région.Ce faisant, pour que le Christianisme et l’Islam deviennent un facteur favorable au développement économique, cette étude suggère un renouvellent en rupture avec le passé et le recours aux vertus religieuses traditionnelles (Religion indigène) par renaissance religieuse. Ainsi, une politique qui consiste à promouvoir la formation supérieure en plus de celle secondaire s’avère donc une voie nécessaire pour mettre la région sur une trajectoire de croissance économique. Les gouvernements de la région doivent aussi investir beaucoup dans la santé pour la  maintenir ou l'accroitre, car un meilleur état sanitaire de la population constitue un stock de capital durable susceptible de stimuler le développement économique en Afrique Subsaharienne.

L'influence de la religion, l'éducation et la santé au développement économique en Afrique Subsaharienne (1960-2015)

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2018 in the subject Economics - Case Scenarios, , language: English, abstract: Publicly Owned Enterprises (POEs) in Kosovo are present largely in the market, with a focus on sectors such as electricity, railways, telecommunications, waste management, etc. This presence is followed by the constant need for subsidies from the government and weak financial and commercial performance. POEs in Kosovo are faced with numerous challenges including weak governance and management. Agency Theory is used widely as a tool with which to explain governance and functioning of organisations and companies. In addition, Agency Theory is used to explore relations between stakeholders in politics and the economy. This study first elaborates upon the applicability of Principal–Agent Theory in POEs in Kosovo and then identifies the presence of principal–agent problems and identifies the nexus between such problems and poor performance of POEs. Identification of principal–agent problems may help to identify the reason for poor performance of POEs and the lack of transparency, accountability and supervision. POEs are subsidised by the state on an annual basis, which makes the identification of problems in having profitable POEs important for public interests, too. Such importance is due not only to the fact that POEs are financed by taxpayers but also to the fact that they are supposed to provide services in public interests by being self-sustainable and profitable for the government as a shareholder. The study aims to conclude that principal–agent problems such as capture, rent-seeking, moral hazard, information asymmetry and adverse selection are present in POEs in Kosovo, and that they have a negative impact on their performance. Such principal–agent problems and their negative performance may also be influenced by gaps in legislation and weak law enforcement.

Principal-Agent Problems in Public Enterprises in Kosovo

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich VWL - Fallstudien, Länderstudien, , Veranstaltung: Economic History of Russia and Eurasia, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Warum ist Economics of shortage ein sowjetisches Phänomen? Diese Hausarbeit, im Rahmen des Seminars „Economic History of Russia and Eurasia“, befasst sich mit dem Thema Economics of shortage. Es geht um die sowjetische Planwirtschaft. Zeitlich gesehen befindet sich das Phänomen sozialistische Planwirtschaft in der Ära des Kalten Krieges, der zwischen den USA und der Sowjetunion ausgefochten wurde. Im Westen sind die USA der Leitstaat. Die Sowjetunion bildet im Ostblock den Leitstaat und dient als solcher bei dem Wirtschaftssystem der weiteren Staaten des sozialistischen Lagers. Der Fokus dieser Hausarbeit wird aber auf den negativen Eigenschaften der sowjetischen Planwirtschaft liegen. Diese Hausarbeit beinhaltet eine empirische Analyse auf der Basis von Texten. Die abhängige Variable der Hausarbeit ist somit Economics of shortage. Zu den unabhängigen Variablen zählen die Produktion der Konsumgüter und Güter der Schwerindustrie, sowie das GDP per head in der sozialistischen Planwirtschaft. Die Hypothesen der Hausarbeit lauten: Economics of shortage entstand im Sozialismus und ist ein sowjetisches Phänomen. Das Budget war für die Schwerindustrie zu groß und es mangelte an Geld für die anderen Industrien, wie der Ölwirtschaft. Dieses wird durch die Produktionszahlen-, in Mio. Tonnen verdeutlicht. Der Untersuchungszeitraum umfasst die Phase der Existenz der Sowjetunion. Diese wurde 1922 gegründet und zerfiel im Jahr 1991. Weltgeschichtlich spielt die Sowjetunion im Kalten Krieg, der nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg einsetzte, eine Rolle. Diese Hausarbeit stellt eine empirische Analyse dar. Die erste Hypothese besagt, dass es sich bei der die sowjetischen Ökonomie um eine ressourcenabhängige Wirtschaft handelt. Die zweite Hypothese beinhaltet, dass Economics of shortage, die sowjetische Misswirtschaft, durch das Übergewicht der Schwerindustrie entsteht.  Die Hausarbeit beschreibt nach der Einleitung zunächst die Planwirtschaft als Wirtschaftssystem, die das Gegenteil des kapitalistischen Wirtschaftssystems in der Ära des Kalten Krieges war. Das nächste Kapitel befasst sich mit dem Scherpunkt der Hausarbeit, mit Economics of shortage. Es folgen die Auswertung, Literaturliste und Selbstständigkeitserklärung. Damit leitet die Hausarbeit zur Planwirtschaft über.

Economics of shortage. Die sowjetische Misswirtschaft

Akademische Arbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich VWL - Fallstudien, Länderstudien, Note: 2,0, EBZ Business School (ehem. Europäisches Bildungszentrum der Wohnungs- und Immobilienwirtschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit der Fragestellung der Ursachenanalyse der US Subprimekrise von 2007 und dessen Einfluss auf den US.-Markt. Die Beschreibung des Ablaufs der Krise und die Analyse der im Kern für die Entwicklung verantwortlichen Ursachen bilden die Grundlage der vorliegenden Arbeit. Die Herleitung erfolgt dabei anhand der bereits im großen Umfang zur Verfügung stehenden Literatur. Das Ziel der Arbeit besteht darin, die vorhandene Literatur zu der Thematik zu erfassen, den Ablauf der US Subprime-Krise zu skizzieren und die Ergebnisse im Kern zusammenfassend wiederzugeben. Im Weiteren soll die Frage beantwortet werden, welche elementaren Aspekte maßgeblich für die weitreichende Einflussnahme der US Subprimekrise verantwortlich waren.Die Ereignisse am US-Immobilien- und Hypothekenmarkt von 2007 und 2008 sind seit mittlerweile über 10 Jahren vergangen. Dennoch bildet die sogenannte US Subprime-Krise den Grundstein für die Finanz- und Weltwirtschaftskrise in den darauffolgenden Jahren. Die US Subprime-Krise bezeichnet dabei den Tiefpunkt einer Entwicklung am US-amerikanischen Immobilien- und Hypothekenmarkt in den Jahren 2007 und 2008, als Ergebnis einer komplexen Verflechtung von verschiedenen mikro- und makroökonomischen Faktoren. Mit ihren indirekten, globalen Auswirkungen bilden die Geschehnisse einen relevanten Aspekt für die heutigen geld- und wirtschaftspolitischen Rahmenbedingungen.Durch das Zusammenspiel von expansiver Geldpolitik und gelockerten Rahmenbedingungen bei der Kreditvergabe hatten sich während der Aufschwungsphase am US-Immobilienmarkt Preisblasen gebildet. Die spätere Korrektur hatte, bedingt durch die Verbreitung von Immobilienkrediten durch innovativen Finanzprodukten, weitreichende Folgen für den US-amerikanischen Finanzsektor und die Finanzmärkte weltweit. Durch den, sich rückläufig entwickelnden US-Immobilienmarkt verzeichneten Kreditinstitute zunehmend Kreditausfälle. Infolge von Liquiditätsengpässen gipfelte die Entwicklung in einer Vertrauenskrise zwischen den Finanzinstitutionen. Den Tiefpunkt markiert dabei die Insolvenz der US-amerikanischen Investmentbank Lehman Brothers im September 2008.

Die US-Subprime-Krise 2007/2008. Ursachen, Ablauf und Bedeutung

Forschungsarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich Führung und Personal - Mitarbeitermotivation, Note: B, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: This study focused on determining the effect of motivation on employee performance in Oyam Town Council in Uganda. The study examines the relationship between employee performance and salary, establishes the relationship between job security and employee performance in Oyam Town Council. A cross-sectional survey design method was used in which secondary data was collected using a computer from authorized sources.The study used a sample size of 52 respondents from a total population of 60 and thematic analysis techniques were done with the help of Stata and a statistical package for social scientists software, after which inferential statistics were made. According to Omollo, as an input, an organization must have a statement, a philosophy, a series of programs and goals which focuses on the skills and talents of its employees for it’s success. All of these must be managed with care and guidance so that the organization’s mission, duration for it’s stability of the work and continuity is successfully accomplished. Therefore, the Motivation effect is a need inside employee’s demands and help to achieve it without irregularities, and motivating the employees broadens their skills to meet the organizational demands.In addition, every branch manager needs to have the responsibility to work with the staff and obtain out their individual needs and put them to the organization’s needs. This can be done by motivating employees. Every individual in an organization is motivated by some different ways and therefore, employee motivation is a reflection of the level of energy, commitment, and creativity that a Company’s workers bring to their jobs. A manager needed to motivate employees and subordinates towards the accomplishment of the organization’s vision. Therefore, motivation is defined as giving employees incentives that cause them to act in desired ways.

The Effect of Motivation on Employee Performance. Shown on the Example of Oyam Town Council, Uganda

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2016 in the subject Economics - Case Scenarios, Addis Ababa University, course: economics, language: English, abstract: The main objective of the study is to see overall contribution of tourism to the Ethiopian economy. Specifically: Tourism contribution to the GDP of the country, Tourism contribution to employment, Tourism contribution to foreign exchange generation, To examine the causal effect of tourism on economic growth. Furthermore this research is to investigate the contribution of tourism for the Ethiopian economy over the year 2004-2014 for descriptive and 1991-2014 for econometrics. Graphs, table and, percent and Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Approach to Co-integration and Error Correction Model are applied in order to investigate the long-run effect of tourism receipt on economic growth. Specifically this research assessed the impact of tourism on GDP, employment, foreign exchange earnings, and economic growth. The result shows tourism positive contribution to GDP, employment, foreign exchange earnings and stable relationship between tourism receipt and economic growth. The empirical result reveals that tourism receipt found to have positive impact on economic growth. So the government and citizens should strive to improve tourism industry and to generate more income especially foreign exchange.According to WTO, tourism is a combination of activities travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one year for leisure, business and other activities. It is beyond the common perception of tourism as being limited to holiday activity. The WTO further explains that tourism refers to all activities of visitors including both tourist (overnight visitors) and same day visitors. This definition was adopted by UK government and WTO used it since 2004.Tourism developed many years back when people travel from one place to another place for different purpose. Human beings have been active travelers for the purpose of hunting and gathering, herding animals in small groups that provided them with food, skin for cloth and bones for making different tools.

The contribution of tourism to the Ethiopian economy and its impact on the GDP

Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Market research, grade: 90.5, Wollega University, course: Thesis, language: English, abstract: The general objective of this study, which got submitted as partial fulfillment to the requirement of the award of Master of Art, is to examine the effect of customer relationship marketing on customer loyalty of commercial banks in Ethiopia. Specifically, this study has the following objectives: To find out the level of the effect of trust on customer loyalty the case of commercial banks in Nekemte banks.Banking industry in Ethiopia has stiff competition thus banks need to consider various strategic options and programs in order to survive and thrive. One of strategy is Customer Relationship Marketing. This study was aimed to examine the effect of customer relationship marketing dimensions (trust, commitment, conflict handling, communication, empathy competence and customer satisfaction) on customer loyalty of commercial banks in Nekemte town. The researcher was used both probability and non-probability sampling techniques to select sample respondents from the total population under this study. Data were collected through the five point’s likert scales of questionnaires and used mixed research approach was used. To achieve the objective of the study, questionnaire was physically distributed to 404 respondents of selected Commercial Banks in Nekemte town. Out of 404 customers 375 92.8% of customers were completed and collected. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the collected data by using SPSS software version 24 and questionnaires reliability was estimated by calculating Cronbach’s Alpha. Descriptive analysis tools such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Inferential statistical analysis tools such as correlation coefficient was worked out and used to explore the relationships between variables. And regression analysis was performed to study the effect of independent variables on dependent variable.

The Effect of Customer Relationship Marketing on Customer Loyalty. Case Study of Commercial Banks in Nekemte Town

&lt;p&gt;Der schuldrechtliche Vertrag sichert Freiheit und Demokratie. Doch bei sozialen Nutzungsverträgen lässt er Zweck und Dauer außer Acht. Stattdessen herrschen dort weiter Vorstellungen einer Sklavengesellschaft von Unterordnung, Fremdbestimmung und Abhängigkeit, wo die Nutzung von Arbeitsplätzen, Wohnungen und Verbraucherkrediten rechtlich zu beurteilen ist. Dabei gab und gibt es eine Alternative, das Mietvertragsmodell der locatio conductio. Anstelle von exklusivem und punktuellem Erwerb von Eigentum im kaufrechtlichen Denken stellt es den dauerhaften Nutzen in den Mittelpunkt. Dies führt zu einem „anderen“ sozial gerechteren Vertrag, der den Verhältnissen heute besser gerecht wird.&lt;/p&gt;

Anhand des Segments im Markt für Personenverkehr wird aufgezeigt, wie das Unternehmen FlixBus sich im Markt für Fernbusreisen etabliert hat. Dies wird dadurch gestützt, dass die Geschichte des Personenbeförderungsgesetzes aufgeführt wird und wie verschiedene Unternehmen, welche später von FlixBus akquiriert wurden, diesen Markt ausgebaut und bedient haben. Weiter wird auch darauf ein- gegangen, wie sich FlixBus durch Markenbekanntheit und Qualität bei der Buchung und der Fahrt als Marktführer durchgesetzt hat und welche Preiselastizität in der Nachfrage für Fahrscheine vorherrscht und wie diese die Erlöse beeinflusst. Zum Schluss wird diskutiert, wie die Bundesregierung von Deutschland bei einer Monopolbildung reagiert und wie sich diese Situation auf europäischer Ebene verhält.

Die Monopolstellung von FlixBus im Markt für Personenverkehr

Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Economics - Case Scenarios, Addis Ababa University (College of Business and Economics), course: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND DEVELOPMENT  MANAGEMENT, language: English, abstract: In recent years, the concept of e-governance has flourished rapidly with the advancement of Information and Communication Technology. The general objective of the study is to assess the Prospects and Challenges of E-Governance in Public Service Delivery in the Case of Fitche Town Land Administration, North Shoa Zone, Oromia Regional State.The study employs a descriptive type of research design to describe the prospects and challenges of e-governance in Fitche town land administration. This study combines both a quantitative approach and a qualitative approach. The target population of the study is both the customer and employees of land administration in Fitche town. The researcher randomly selects 70 service receivers who are convenient and 42 or all number of employees in the sector. Generally, 112 participants are applied to this study from both employees and customers of the sector. The data collected from participants of the study were analyzed through descriptive statistical methods such as frequency and percentage. The study revealed that e-governance is a new concept and infant ages in the public service delivery, especially in the Fiche town land administration sector. It reveals that there is a low status of e-governance in the sector. Even if e-governance is on the infant age in the sector it gives many contributions in service delivery in the sector like save time, reduce bribery, increase transparency and accountability in the sector. The research found that infrastructure like internet access was the major significant challenging issue in the success of e-governance system in the sector and Lack of training was also one of the main obstacles to success in e-governance in the selected sector. Therefore, the study recommended that the sector should mainly focus on the clarity in terminology is important, not just to academics. It is also important for politicians and others engaged in the development of public policy on the utilization of ICT in government, and also pieces of training are important for the success of e-governance in the land administration sector.
