Los ejércitos del futuro

Dodging and Confronting Stigma examines the lives of people who were stigmatized or marginalized in Japan’s late classical and medieval ages. Often characterized as beggars, they in fact pursued a wide range of occupations and lifestyles, even while haunted by discrimination and exploitation. They developed skills, acquired property rights, and even manipulated the elite who controlled them, thereby achieving some degree of self-determination. Outcasts are frequently mentioned in the records of Buddhist temples, and the variety of references provides evidence for the many ways they participated in medieval religious life: as cleansers of pollution, as cremation and burial workers, as objects of salvific efforts—and as guards and enforcers in an increasingly militarized religious establishment. Complex and stratified, outcast society as a whole included people who demanded their rights through litigation and arms, just as did others in Japan’s medieval world. The emergence, especially in the late medieval age, of people who occupied marginal positions in society—neither wholly stigmatized nor wholly free of stigma—complicates the picture. Such marginal people included bearers of Japanese culture such as garden designers, theatrical performers, and shamans, making it impossible to simply write them off as social pariahs or victims of discrimination. Janet Goodwin demonstrates that outcast and marginal society was a complex one whose members fulfilled diverse functions necessary to medieval society, formed complex relationships with institutions and individuals of power, and made enduring contributions to medieval culture. Most studies of late classical and medieval Japan focus on elites: monarchs and courtiers, powerful warriors, and high-ranking religious figures. Indeed, these are the people who appear prominently in sources of the time. However, tantalizing pictures of outcast and marginal people appear in an array of sources such as aristocrats’ diaries, legal documents, tales, scrolls, and screen paintings, among others. In emphasizing people at the bottom of society and on its margins, and the ways that they dodged and confronted stigma, this book broadens the picture of Japanese society of the time.

Routledge Studies in Religion and Politics

The Politics of Catholic NGO Networks asks 'Who speaks for the Catholic Church during a humanitarian crisis?' and answers that there is no single voice; only a plurality of Catholic actors whose relationships with the Holy See differ sharply, and whose humanitarian work is shaped as much by internal organisational dynamics and Church politics as by the crises they respond to.This book offers the first comparative study of three of the world's most significant Catholic humanitarian networks: the Caritas confederation, the Jesuit Refugee Service, and the Community of Sant'Egidio, through drawing on over thirty interviews and extensive fieldwork in Rome and the Vatican. Each network occupies a distinct status (dependent, semi-dependent, and independent organisations) in relation to Church hierarchy, producing strikingly different approaches to assisting refugees and forced migrants. Moving between the internal governance of the Church and the external landscape of secular humanitarianism, the book exposes a persistent and more nuanced "religious literacy gap" among UN agencies, donors, and NGOs working alongside faith-based partners. Combining an interpretivist, practitioner-informed methodology at the intersection of IR, religion, and humanitarianism, Dr Intropido directly engaged with diplomats, humanitarian workers, and Church officials, offering both a new theoretical account of religious actors in world politics and a practical checklist for anyone partnering with Catholic humanitarian organisations. The Politics of Catholic NGO Networks will be essential reading for students and scholars of religion and politics, international relations, sociology and anthropology of religion, humanitarian, development, and migration studies, and for practitioners navigating the increasingly visible role of religion in global affairs.

The very title speaks of the contents of the book. It quoted the Codes [ Verses] of "Manu-Smriti" - translated in English and presented subject-wise, with small comments- here and there. This book also tried to find out from the Rig-Veda, the sequence of development of the State Policy to physically kill the people of war-defeated IVC Indians, alienated their land, cities, killed most people like- what Spanish people did to eliminate the people of Aztec Civilisation, and colonised Latin America, but in India, after preliminary physical killing and taken over the defeated people's land and cattle -prudently kept alive those Have-nothing common pre-Aryan citizens to work for the owner-settlers- to work for them as slaves, with Zero Human Rights. From the Vedic word " Dasa" the more inclusive word " Shudra" was cointed by Manu-Smriti, and followed by Indian Hindus till date.

Transforming Environmental Politics and Policy

Debating Planetary Politics offers a range of perspectives that together provide a comprehensive overview of the issues and ideas central to the emerging field of planetary politics, giving due attention to its history, while primarily and uniquely advancing the contemporary state of the debate. An eco-centric planetary politics first became a prospective new turn for the world politics of humanity when scientists around 1970 discovered that the Earth system, including its biospheric ecology, exists in a biogeochemical composition which enables and furthers the conditions for life on this planet, and that our species is causing an Earth system crisis that is jeopardizing planetary habitability. This book examines how to best navigate through this Earth system crisis and expands on what planetary politics is about by including multispecies and critical perspectives that were not prominent before. It is argued that the current global governance architecture is inadequate for ending the crisis. We will need a new planetary politics. But what do we have in mind when we talk about planetary politics? This complex inter- and transdisciplinary debate does not only require a sound grasp of the relevant Earth system science, but also of the cultural, social, economic, and political worldviews and practices that have brought about the present malaise, and of how old and new alternatives might enable constructive steps forward. This book therefore has a diverse group of expert contributors. They offer a variety of complementary and competing theoretical perspectives from Political Science, Political Theory, Political Economy, International Relations, Philosophy, and Sociology, getting to the core of what thinking in terms of planetary politics signifies in different registers.Establishing planetary politics as its own distinct field, Debating Planetary Politics is important reading for students and scholars from a range of disciplines, including Global Environmental Politics, Political Science, International Relations (IR), Political Theory/Philosophy, Development Studies, Political Economy, Earth System Science, Environmental Humanities, Global/Intellectual History, Political Geography, Political Sociology, and Science and Technology Studies (STS).

Die deutsche Wiedervereinigung jährte sich zuletzt zum 35. Mal.
In
Postwendekinder

A grippingly personal analysis of J. K. Rowling's rise as an anti-trans activist, its media and pop cultural context, and trans resistance to the moral panic she has stoked.

In J. K. Rowling and the Anti-Trans Panic, Gina Gwenffrewi weaves her own experience as a trans woman living in Edinburgh, Scotland, with analysis of political and pop cultural discourses and artifacts to deliver a trenchant study of how fellow Edinburgh resident J. K. Rowling's emergence as a major anti-trans campaigner and the years-long entrenchment of existing anti-trans forces have converged. Analyzing Rowling's output since 2020, a series of anti-trans events at the University of Edinburgh, the transphobic comedy of Ricky Gervais within the British media landscape, YouTube commentaries, and more, Gwenffrewi creates a potent taxonomy of the rhetorical devices and foundational assumptions of anti-trans discourse. While the 2020s UK has proved fertile ground for "gender-critical" feminism, she argues, it has also provided the foundation for sites of resistance and for bolstering transgender voices worldwide. In celebrating trans activism and trans joy amid adversity, Gwenffrewi beautifully captures the light and dark of being out as trans in the city that-if it can fairly be called ground zero for anti-trans fervor-also embodies liberatory possibilities for trans people worldwide.

A GUIDE FOR THE AFRICAN AND ASIAN DIASPORA

THE BRIDGE TO THE UNITED KINGDOM

Hampton Publishers

The author feels that warnings given or advice offered are all too often limited to a particular person or group of people and are frequently not fully understood and even forgotten in time. One only has to look at the increasing dissension, turmoil, hatred, political incompetence, corruption, lack of education, and questionable intellect of the masses, just to name a few, to realize that the human race is hurtling down the road of destruction.
Because of what is presently occurring and being planned for in the future, the eventual demise of a cohabited world community is at grave risk. It grieves the author having to witness the silencing of the voices of wisdom, the deliberate creation of social disharmony, the eradication of freedom, and the acceptance of these by the gullible masses.
Although he is merely a speck on the cog in a massive wheel, the author fervently hopes that his highly thought-provoking quotations will cause readers to take off their rose-colored glasses.
