'The Legal Examination of Blockchains and Smart Contracts. An Analysis of Legal Compliance De Lege Lata': This study examines the extent to which smart contracts and blockchain technology are compatible with current law. In addition to German law, it considers the GDPR, the Rome I, Rome II and Brussels Ia Regulations, the eIDAS Regulation and the Data Act. The study also examines the legal situation in England, Italy, certain US states, Belarus and Russia. Based on the findings, proposed solutions in the form of legislative amendments and/or technical modifications are developed to resolve existing conflicts.
