'The Faculty to Hear Confessions. Ecclesiastical Authorization for the Administration of the Sacrament of Penance under the Current Law of the CIC and the CCEO': The faculty to hear confessions is the ecclesiastical authorization required, in addition to priestly ordination, for the valid administration of the Sacrament of Penance. This study provides a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the institute in the CIC/1983 and the CCEO. It explores its development, theological nature and legal structure, clarifies unresolved questions of interpretation and proposes reforms and further developments of the current law.
