De l'enclavement à la plateforme économique transfrontalière

1940. Zweiter Weltkrieg. In den Vogesen zur Zeit der Herbstzeitlosen suchen ein Vater und sein Sohn Pilze. Im Wald stoßen sie auf einen 'negre', zusammengekauert, halbtot und in einer von Schweiß und Schlamm verdreckten Uniform. Es ist Addi Bâ, ein junger Guineer, der im Alter von 13 Jahren nach Frankreich kam und sich bei Kriegsausbruch freiwillig zu den 'Senegalesischen Schützen' meldete. Nach der Schlacht an der Maas gefangen genommen, gelingt ihm die Flucht. Er irrt durch die Wälder, bevor er von den beiden entdeckt und im Dorf Romaincourt versteckt und versorgt wird. Die Geschichte wird uns von Germaine erzählt, einem Mädchen aus dem Dorf, das kein Blatt vor den Mund nimmt. Die Ankunft des Afrikaner wirbelt den scheinbar unveränderlichen Mikrokosmos des Dorfes auf. Die Frauen widersetzen sich ihren Ehemännern, die Söhne träumen davon, Widerstandskämpfer zu werden. Addi Bâ wird von der Dorfgemeinschaft endgültig aufgenommen, als er 1942 der Resistance beitritt. Er gründet den ersten Maquis in den Vogesen mit jungen Leuten, die nicht zur Zwangsarbeit nach Deutschland wollen, sorgt für die Rettung von Juden, abgestürzten Piloten und geflohenen Kriegsgefangenen. Von den Deutschen als 'schwarzer Terrorist' bezeichnet und gefürchtet, wird er verraten und im Dezember 1943 in Epinal erschossen. Wer ihn verraten hat, wurde nie bekannt. 
Tierno Monénembo erzählt diese außergewöhnliche Geschichte aus der Perspektive einer jungen Frau, die unpathetisch Addi Bås Leben, aber ebenso über die Dorfbewohner und deren Zerrissenheit erzählt, souverän und empathisch.
