 Orbis Terrarum
 bietet Raum für Publikationen von Historikern, Philologen, Geographen, Geomorphologen und Archäologen. Das inhaltliche Spektrum, das mit dem 
 Orbis Terrarum
 abgedeckt werden soll, ist dabei bewusst breit angelegt. Geographisch-topographische Studien haben hier ebenso ihren Platz wie Untersuchungen zur Wechselwirkung zwischen Mensch und Landschaft oder wissenschaftsgeschichtliche und methodologische Arbeiten.
 Die Beiträge dieser Ausgabe erstrecken sich chronologisch über die gesamte Bandbreite der klassischen Antike - von der griechischen Frühzeit bis zur Spätantike. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte sind traditionell die Untersuchung antiker Texte und archäologischer Fragestellungen, die teilweise mit geomorphologischen Forschungsansätzen kombiniert werden. Weitere Akzente werden in der griechischen Landeskunde, der historischen Kartographie und Wissenschaftsgeschichte vorgenommen.
