'The Proprietary Dimension of Obligation. Concept, Doctrine, and Justification of 'Forderungszuständigkeit' under the Principle of Private Autonomy': The concept of the 'Forderungszuständigkeit' - understood today as the absolute dimension of an obligation - has been a subject of debate in German legal discourse since the nineteenth century. Despite numerous interpretive efforts, the concept remains unresolved, both conceptually and in terms of its normative foundation. Siyuan Zhou is the first to offer a strictly liberal, autonomy-based account of this doctrine, grounding it in the foundational principle of private autonomy in German private law, which, in his interpretation, is ultimately rooted in the Kantian idea of equal freedom.
